It was in the Blackwell family's blood to excel in business, but they could also succeed as soldiers or politicians.
It all depended on what he wanted to do.
As the only young master of the Blackwell family, he didn't have to be as anxious or overthink things like others did.
The Blackwell family's safety net was immense.
“Let’s not think about these things during the holiday.”
Isabel got up and went to the kitchen to put the sweet porridge in an insulated container.
Oliver came over to help, picking up Isabel’s bag and following her to the underground garage.
Isabel didn’t say anything and just took him with her to the hotel.
The hotel wasn't far from Halcyon Hills Residence.
It had been chosen specifically for convenience, so everyone could easily come over for meals during the holiday.
When she arrived, Julian was still asleep. Edmund answered the door.
He frowned when he saw Oliver but didn’t say anything, stepping aside to let Isabel in.
It was a large suite. Julian was in the master bedroom. Isabel placed the insulated container on the dining table and asked, “Are Mr. and Mrs. Ashford awake yet?”
Edmund said, “I’ll go knock and see.”
He went to their door.
Mr. and Mrs. Ashford were early risers. Miles was still sleeping.
Isabel told Edmund not to knock on Evelyn and Richard’s door, sending them a text instead.
Felix Lane had a place in Westbridge and wasn't staying at the hotel.
“Come get some breakfast,” Isabel said after sending the text, ushering Mr. and Mrs. Ashford into the main room.
They hadn't slept well, which was why they were up so early.
On one hand, they were thrilled to have found their long-lost daughter. On the other, they were anxious about not being able to get a DNA test done.
This New Year, though less lonely than previous ones, was hardly any better.
Julian said, “So where do I sit?”
Each family sent one person to the table. Miles, now awake and finished with his breakfast, took a seat.
The other two spots were taken by Mr. Ashford and Evelyn. They would switch out with others after four rounds.
“You play,” Miles said. “My uncle and I are on the same team.”
“If we’re going by that logic,” Julian countered, “aren’t Isabel and I on the same team?”
They all had a strong feeling that Isabel was, in fact, an Ashford.
Miles said, “Then we’re all one big family.”
Julian pulled up a chair next to him. “Alright, fine. This brother will be on your team.”
Miles was flattered. “You finally remember I’m your brother.”
“Just play your cards.”
He remembered something and said to Isabel, “If it’s confirmed that you’re an Ashford, you won’t need the name ‘Isabel Blackwell’ anymore. In that case, can you file for divorce?”
