Blizzard First Love and a Wife Who Finally Snaps novel Chapter 413

Catherine couldn't say another word and lowered her head.

The elder Mrs. Blackwell gave Adrian a long look before asking Samuel, "You heard what Isabel said. Are you willing?"

Samuel pursed his lips in thought for a moment, then nodded.

"I'm sorry."

"Why are you apologizing?" Isabel was taken aback. She had expected a "thank you."

Samuel said, "For my mother, and for everything before… anyway, I'm sorry. Let's keep things separate."

Isabel didn't press the matter, just curved her lips into a small smile. "Alright."

Oliver sidled up to them. "Cousin, contact me first, and I'll pass the message to my mom. Let me tell you how amazing my mom is…"

As the two boys started talking, the elder Mrs. Blackwell's gaze fell on Adrian.

"I'd like to hear your intentions first."

Adrian looked at Isabel, but she didn't spare him a glance. She leaned against the matriarch, drinking her tea and eating some nuts.

She looked quite relaxed.

His Adam's apple bobbed. "There are twenty-one days left in the cooling-off period. When the time comes, I will divorce Isabel."

Isabel scoffed inwardly but said nothing.

Until that day came, she couldn't trust a word the man said.

The elder Mrs. Blackwell said, "Then I'll just have to hold on until the day you two divorce. I need to see that Isabel is alright before I can go in peace."

"You should really watch what you say," Isabel said, feeding her a small piece of mandarin orange. "You have to be at my second wedding, after all."

She turned to Catherine and said, "First of all, Julian knows what he's doing. If he wants to protect me and our child, he'll handle it. I trust him on that."

"Second, I doubt his list of enemies includes someone who, driven by a love-turned-to-hate obsession, would conspire with rivals to get their loved one killed."

"And finally, who I marry is none of your business."

Catherine's expression shifted through a spectacular range of colors, each more unpleasant than the last. "How do you know there isn't someone like that? Julian has a face that attracts trouble."

Isabel replied, "If you're so determined to curse our happiness, I see no point in wasting my breath on you. But rest assured, what happened with Harold will not happen to Julian and me."

She paused for a moment before continuing, "There's one thing you don't want to admit. Back then, they didn't guard against you. They never thought a Blackwell could do something so despicable. If they had been wary of you, Harold might still be alive."

"It was all Kate Caldwell's fault!" Even now, Catherine refused to admit that she was the cause of the tragedy.

It was her inability to win Harold's love that fueled her hatred, her jealousy that led her to conspire with his enemies to take his life.
