Alistair gripped his cue tightly, forcing himself to face the terrifying aura radiating from Beasley. Not allowing himself the slightest intention of backing down, he enunciated every word, "In the past, when Willow was still your wife, I had to bury my feelings for her deep in my heart. But now that you two are divorced, I could no longer suppress my emotions for Willow. So, I started secretly keeping photos of her and collecting information about her."
"Ever since your divorce, there has always been a voice in my head telling me that my chance has come, and I needed to be brave, take the first step, and pursue her!"
Beasley was also forcing himself—forcing himself to suppress the urge to punch the man.
How had he never noticed before that Alistair had such intentions toward Willow!
"And then?" The man leaned both hands on the edge of the pool table, his body leaning slightly forward, his presence growing increasingly intimidating.
Alistair thought inwardly about the true feelings he needed to keep buried deep inside. His eyes quickly reddened, and looking down, he said, "And then, before I even had the chance to make my move, Zoe found the photos I had hidden in my room."
"When Zoe was two years old, I sneaked her out to an amusement park and ended up losing her. When my parents found out, they went crazy looking for my sister. They got into a traffic accident and died. I lost my family right then and there."
Alistair slowed his speech, his voice choking up. "I blamed myself. My relatives thought I was a jinx, and no one wanted to take me in. So I was sent to a local orphanage, and from then on, all contact was cut off."
"Later, I was adopted and changed my name to match my new family's, but I never gave up looking for my sister."
"Hard work paid off. Just six years ago, I finally managed to find my sister. It was Zoe. My original name was Mickey Bellamy."
"I wanted to publicly acknowledge Zoe as my sister, but she refused."
"She said she didn't want to disrupt my life because..." At this point, Alistair wasn't acting. He truly felt hatred—hatred for those animals who had defiled his sister!
The veins on the hand gripping the cue bulged, and his eyes burned with intense hatred as he continued, "Because she said she was filthy. I had a bad feeling about it, so I did some digging in secret and found out what happened. It turned out Zoe was also adopted when she was at the orphanage. But... she was sexually abused by her adoptive father, and he wasn't the only one!"
