Licas doesn’t stop, not after the first punch or after the second. He just keeps going, each hit landing harder than the last, his fist slamming into Aaron’s face, his ribs, anywhere he can reach. The sound of it fills the cellar as Aaron doesn’t even get the chance to properly defend himself.
He stumbles back, hits the wall, tries to raise his arms....but another punch cuts him off.
"Lucas....:" Noah starts.
Ignored.
Aaron coughs, blood spilling from his mouth now, his breathing uneven.
"I don’t..::" he chokes, trying to speak.
Lucas grabs him again and drives his fist straight into his jaw.
Aaron’s head snaps back violently, his body going slack for a second before he slumps forward again.
"Lucas, stop!" Caleb steps in this time, grabbing him from behind and pulling him back with force.
"Enough!"
Lucas resists for a second, hs chest rising and falling hard, eyes still locked on Aaron like he’s not done.
"It’s not worth killing right now," Caleb says, tightening his hold. "We need him talking."
Lucas exhales sharply, then jerks out of Caleb’s grip and steps back.
Aaron drops.....his body hitting the floor with a dull thud, barely conscious, blood smeared across his face but Lucas doesn’t look at him again he jst turns and walks out.
The rest of us follow him back upstairs until Lucas stops in the middle of the living area. His hands going to his hips for a second before he turns to me.
"I can’t stay here," he says.
His voice is steadier nw, bt the anger is still there, sitting just beneath the surface.
"You deploy your men. Lock down everything you can."
I doesn’t interrupt
"I’ll do the same," Lucas continues. "Me and my brothers....we’ll start digging from our end."
He pauses.
Then adds, more pointedly...
"I’ll be back tomorrow."
His eyes hardening slightly.
"Especially for him."
No name needed.
"Aaron’s suspicious as hell."
I nod once but that’s it.....Lucas doesn’t wait for anything else as he turns and walks out, Noah and Caleb following behind him.
The door shuts and the house feels quiet again.
Elaine’s POV.
Water hits me.....Ice cold water, it crashes over my head and face, soaking through me instantly, and dragging me out of whatever shallow sleep I’d fallen into.
I gasp. My body jerking violently against the ropes as I suck in air, coughing, choking slightly.
"What the....."
My vision blurs and everything swims as my head pounds, the pain from earlier slamming back in full force.
I try to blink the water out of my eyes, shaking my head slightly.
"What the hell....."
Before I can even steady mysel..... a hand grabs my hair hard and my head is yanked back.....pain shoots across my scalp immediately.
"Fuck....."
My vision tilts upward....and I’m staring straight into a pair of bright blue eyes.
Something in my chest tightens instantly...like my body recognizes something my brain hasn’t caught up to yet.
I stare trying to place it, trying to understand why those eyes make something twist uncomfortably inside me.
Then she lets go just like that and my head drops forward as I suck in a breath, relief hitting my scalp immediately.
"Wake up, princess," she says.
Her voice is light and mocking....like this is amusing to her.
I swallow hard, my chest still rising and falling unevenly.
"Yea I’m awake," I snap back, irritation cutting through the haze.
My voice is rough, tired and angry.
"So What’s up, bitch?"
She stills for a second, then scoffs, clearly surprised.
"Did you just call me a bitch?"
