Bride behind the mask novel (Marguerite) novel Chapter 695

Maggie eyed the woman in front of her, decked out in a glittering ball gown and makeup that could rival a Broadway star's. For a moment, she found her style oddly fitting with the opulent decor surrounding them.

It made sense, after all. A princess should be in a castle.

Maggie furrowed her brows, "Do I know you?"

Since when had she become so famous that seemingly everyone knew who she was?

The so-called princess burst into laughter, "Know you? Of course, I do! Who else could give my Freddie such a hard time?"

Maggie felt deflated, and just then, Frederick's cool voice floated over.

"Stella! Cut it out!"

So, this woman's name was Stella?

Even with Frederick's warning, Stella didn't seem offended. She puffed up her cheeks, winked at Maggie, then turned to pout at Frederick.

"Oh, come on! Can't I make a little joke? Freddie, you're too biased!"

Her voice had a thick, exaggerated American twang, even more childlike than Teresa's.

Maggie kept her expression serene, but Frederick stepped closer, taking her hand and guiding her to a plush sofa, explaining in a calm tone.

"Stella is Robert's mentee; she grew up abroad. She's not familiar with all our customs here, so please, be patient with her."

Robert's mentee?

Maggie then remembered Robert was also a psychologist who had provided counseling to Frederick in the past.

So, the three of them knew each other well.

Thus, Maggie adopted a gracious air, her smile tight, "Little sister, I can be patient."

Frederick's smile was tinged with amusement, "She's actually a year older than you."

Returning to her seat, somewhat bored and disappointed, she caught the tail end of Stella jokingly asking, "Yuna wouldn't happen to be the sister Robert found, right? I might not be too keen on helping then."

Stella then looked at Maggie excitedly, "Yuna looks just like you, doesn't she?"

Maggie stayed silent, letting Violet, with a small smile, respond, "Yes. But our Maggie here is a tad more beautiful than Ms. Lockwood."

Stella threw her hands up, laughing heartily, "Well, now I'm even less inclined to help! Ha!"

Her laughter was radiant, like a sunflower in full bloom.

But Maggie wasn't offended. She sensed no malice from Stella. This woman was just a bit too blunt, much like Miley, a straight shooter.

"Knock it off, save Robert some headache," Frederick said, barely concealing his amusement.

"I won't save him any trouble! He starts dating and doesn't tell me; I'll hold that against him forever."

Oddly, Maggie sensed a hint of jealousy in Stella's tone when she mentioned Robert's love life.
