Bride behind the mask novel (Marguerite) novel Chapter 760

Teresa shook her head, her defiance almost stubborn as she buried her face in Frederick's chest:

"I won't! I won't! I want to stay with you! Daddy! I want to stay with you!"

"Is it that hard to leave? Teresa, do you really want to stay with him?"

Maurice's voice sounded like a final ultimatum.

But Teresa wasn't looking at him anymore; she was frantically trying to cover Frederick's wound with her small hands, but the blood kept gushing out, unstoppable.

"Daddy, I don't want to leave you... Can we wait for mommy to come and save us? Please hold on a bit longer, don't close your eyes, please don't close your eyes..."

Meanwhile, the walkie-talkie crackled to life again:

"Mr. Winston, Marguerite has entered the villa; she's searching everywhere for Frederick."

This time, Maurice gave no response.

He dropped the walkie-talkie and pointed a gun straight at Teresa.

Bang—

The sound of the gunshot was sharp and explosive, causing Teresa a momentary ringing in her ears, her throat unable to emit any sound.

She saw Frederick yelling at her, but she couldn't hear anything.

The immense force of the impact made her fall into the man's chest, as if every organ in her body had exploded, and her mouth suddenly filled with a salty, metallic liquid.

She spat out a mouthful of blood.

"Daddy... it hurts... it hurts so much..."

"Teresa!"

His laugh was calm and composed, yet chilling.

He leaned down, placing the cold handgun into Frederick's hand, and lifted Teresa from his chest, whispering in his ear.

"You're wrong. It wasn't me who killed Teresa. It was you."

Right after those words, Marguerite, drawn by the sound of the gunshot, burst onto the rooftop unexpectedly.

She saw the chaos, saw Frederick lying in a pool of blood, and saw Maurice bending over, kneeling on the ground with his back to her.

In that moment, her world began to spin wildly.

She was nearly suffocated, unable to breathe, let alone make a sound, when Maurice turned around, holding Teresa, bloody and barely recognizable, yet her fate unknown.

Tears streamed down his face, a mixture of sorrow and regret: "I'm sorry, Marguerite, I did everything I could, but I still couldn't save her..."
