"Deal!"
"You'll be my secretary, then," Edward added.
Although it was a secretary position, working closely with Edward would mean he would get to do far more than basic tasks. He would stand to gain invaluable knowledge.
Jacob was ecstatic. He jumped to his feet and raised his glass to Edward. "Thank you, Edward! I promise I won't let you down. If I make any mistakes, don't hesitate and tell me straight. That's the only way I'll get better!"
With that, he drank his glass in one go, his excitement practically radiating from him.
He knew that Edward was offering him this chance because of Janice, and he couldn't let her down. He had to make the most of this opportunity.
Janice, however, was still in disbelief. "That's it? You're not even going to interview him?"
"Prosper Stitch Group doesn't have shareholders," Edward said casually. "My decision is final."
No one had the power to challenge his choices. That was the authority of an absolute executive chairman.
Unlike Melody & Loops Creations or Onley Group, where boardroom politics often slowed down progress, Prosper Stitch Group operated without interference.
Edward detested bureaucracy. He preferred handling everything himself, and he'd take full responsibility without others stepping in. This had been his approach for 30 years, but with Janice, things had changed. Over time, he learned to trust his team and delegate more effectively.
After dinner, the three of them chatted for a while before Jacob retired to the guest room to rest.
Janice remained on the couch, deep in thought. Suddenly, Edward stood up and effortlessly scooped her into his arms.
"Edward!"
Standing nearby, Laura couldn't help but chuckle at the sight.
"What's with the fluster?" Edward asked, completely unfazed. "We're going to spend our lives together. You should start getting used to it."
Janice's cheeks flushed. "Used to what?"
"Not you—them."
They would need to get used to the fact that the man of the house would always carry his wife.
"Talk," Edward said, putting the call on speaker.
Amelia's voice came through urgently. "Mr. Moore, I've received the medicine you sent. Thank you. But there's something important you need to know. The Jovareks have released Heidi, and now, she's looking for Shirley. If possible, make sure she never finds her. Shirley is too powerful. If she joins Onley Group, it'll be a disaster."
Amelia was determined to make Simon's and Heidi's lives as difficult as possible. Every setback for them was a personal victory for her. Lately, she had even begun shadowing Simon, keeping tabs on his every move.
Just then, something caught her attention, and her voice spiked with excitement. "Mr. Moore! I just saw Simon sneaking into Onley Group's temporary office building! What the hell is he doing there? Did Louis and Zedrick beat him so badly that he lost his mind?"
Why was Simon at Onley Group?
…
Meanwhile, Simon entered Onley Group's temporary office building after having secured an appointment. He had no idea who actually ran the company.
All he cared about was finding a powerful backer—someone who could help him take back Refined Threads Co. Once he had the money, he could go abroad and seek treatment for his infertility. The so-called medical experts here were utterly useless.
The receptionist greeted him, "Hello, Mr. Fitzgerald. The office with the lights on is the one you're looking for. Please go right in."
