Chapter 145 The Pathfinding Scroll
After saying that, BigMountain hefted his shield and charged back into the fray.
“DawnLight, huh… judging by these three, they seem pretty decent.”
She figured she could work with them.
“Got it.”

Riley holstered her crossbow and dropped down from the boulder. With her high agility, she dashed across the rocky ground toward the fight.
“I’ll handle the reflection phase.”
She drew her twin axes, a fierce gleam in her eyes.
“You all hold the front-keep it from bolting.”
BigMountain watched her sprint toward the boss and felt an unexpected wave of reassurance.
“Alright, listen up!” BigMountain yelled, raising his tower shield again. “Back up the pro! Let’s bring it down!”
He slammed the shield hard into the Earth Bear’s snout.
“ROAR!”
The beast went berserk. Its paws glowing dull red, it began pounding wildly onto BigMountain’s defense.
Riley, axes in hand, slid low across the dirt-right beneath the bear’s bulk.
It was a blind spot, the only vulnerable patch on its underside.
Her arms became a blur.
“Swish-swish-swish-swish!”
In barely two seconds, Riley carved eight deep cuts into the soft flesh of the bear’s belly.
Blood sprayed across her tactical vest, and a solid chunk of the boss’ health bar vanished.
Roaring in pain, the Earth Bear tried to drop its weight and crush her.
Riley rolled sideways, slipped out from under it, and in the same motion swung one axe upward with all her strength.
“CLANG!”
The blade struck the crystalline armor plating under the bear’s jaw.
Damage reflection triggered. While shattering a section of the armor, Riley felt a violent shock travel up her arms. A brutal force knocked her back, and her health dropped by ten points instantly.
“Aim for the cracks in its armor!” Riley shouted.

At the same time, she swapped back to her armor-piercing crossbow and fired rapidly into the fractured gaps.
“ROOOAR-!!!”

The Earth Bear let out an agonized scream. Another large plate of crystal armor broke loose, and its defenses visibly plummeted.
Seeming to realize it couldn’t survive like this, it quickly crouched to gather-strength before lunging straight at Riley.
But BigMountain, already in position, didn’t just stand by. Impressed by Riley’s damage output, he raised his shield and charged forward.
Before, the boss’ health regeneration had almost matched their damage. But with this woman tearing into it, the health bar finally began dropping steadily.
“Hey, catch!”
The girl named Snowy called out suddenly.
A glass vial traced an arc through the air.
Riley’s hand shot out and snatched it mid-flight.
“Basic Healing Potion”
“Thanks.”
Riley didn’t put on a show of refusing, but she didn’t drink it immediately either. Quietly, she swapped it with one of her own potions from her inventory and drank that instead.
She wanted to believe their offer was genuine, but caution won out. Swapping it out discreetly spared everyone any potential
awkwardness.
At the same moment, Snowy waved her staff, and Riley felt a slight restoration in her stamina.
As the battle wore on, the Earth Bear’s health bar grew shorter and shorter,
With BigMountain reliably holding aggro at the front, Riley had all the space she needed to deal damage.
Five minutes later, with one final trigger of the “Bloodthirst” enchantment, Riley crossed her axes and drove them deep into the giant bear’s carotid artery.
“THUD-”
The massive creature finally collapsed unwillingly into the scatter of rocks, kicking up a cloud of dust.
Several orbs of light coalesced above its body.
“Lv.15 Crystal Armor Earth Bear (Elite) slain.
“Experience gained: 150 points. Level cap reached. Boss experience has been auto-banked. Will be applied after class advancement.”
“Kinda annoying,” Riley murmured. “Need to get that class advancement card soon. No experience gains while capped.”
