“The worst part is that all Dark attribute monsters receive the ‘Shadow’s Favor‘ buff. Their stats double! Their aggression increases by 300%!
“And they will hunt through the black fog like madmen, attacking anything with a heartbeat! They won’t stop until they’re dead!”
Stats double? 300% aggression?
Riley knew this was bad. She pulled out the map to navigate.
“Turn right! Up ahead!”
“Roar–!!!”
Before she could finish, a piercing shriek echoed from the black fog behind them.
It sounded like a scream from the pits of hell.
Then, a bolt of black lightning tore through the mist, aimed straight for Riley’s back!
“Heads up!”
Riley threw herself into a roll.
Tear-
Even as fast as she was, the shadow still grazed her shoulder.
Riley let out a low grunt, using the momentum of the roll to spring back to her feet. She stole a glance back.
What she saw made her blood run cold.
In the black mist, hundreds of tiny red pinpricks were lighting up.
They were all eyes.
The thing that had attacked her was just a common Shadow Panther, but it was now twice its normal size, Wreathed in black

“Don’t look back! Run!!!”
Riley roared, hurling Failed Alchemical Potions and Weakness Potions into the fog like they were free.
The wind screamed and the mist surged like a tide.
Just moments before the suffocating darkness completely swallowed the forest, three battered figures burst through the wall of

fog and plunged into the familiar territory of the Deadwood Grove.
“We’re here! Keep moving!”
Riley shoved Tartking from behind, pushing her into the grove’s boundaries.

The moment they crossed the line, that bone–chilling killing intent from behind vanished. Even though the sky above was still pitch black, the terrifying roars seemed to be held back by an invisible barrier
This was the territory of the Crimson Gold Mask–Apes.
As the apex predators of this forest, the troop clearly had their own ways of surviving.
Riley was stunned to see that the monkey camps, which were normally scattered all over the forest and hanging from branches, had undergone a massive change.
The apes that usually loved swinging through the trees were nowhere to be found.
The camp boundaries had shrunk significantly. The dozens of scattered tree–hollow outposts had been abandoned, and every single monkey was now huddled into three colossal ancient trees at the center. The boulders and logs they’d used as roadblocks earlier had been stacked to form a crude but thick defensive wall.
At the entrances of those three massive hollows, piles of Glow–Crystals had been stacked high.

The eerie blue light illuminated the area, driving back the dread of the Long Night.
“Screech! Screech!”
The sentry apes let out excited cries when they saw the three girls. They even pushed aside a massive boulder at the entrance, gesturing for them to get inside.
“Whew… I’m alive.”
TartKing collapsed onto the floor, gasping for air. “That was too close! That black panther almost had my butt!”
PineappleBeer leaned against the tree trunk, wiping cold sweat from her braw. “That was a close one. I really didn’t expect the Long Night this early.”
Riley didn’t speak. She was clearly exhausted as she quietly checked her gear. She’d taken some hits, but fothing she couldn’t heal
