Chapter 183 The Rescue
In/a crisis, TartKing was always rational. She knew her role.
Somehow reluctant, she still nodded. “Fine.”

TartKing took a deep breath, quickly dumping a mountain of items into their hands–healing potions and/ Agility–buffing snacks.
“Take these. All of them. Just… come back, okay?”
“We will.”
Riley split the supplies with PineappleBeer and shoved them into her bag.
The two blurred out of the light, vanishing into the endless dark.
TartKing stood alone at the boundary of light and shadow,
Inside the black fog, visibility was less than six feet.
Riley and PineappleBeer moved through the jagged rocks like ghosts.
Several shadows locked onto them the moment they entered the mist, but with their high Agility and buffs, they were moving too fast to be caught.
“The voices are this way. Getting closer.”
Pineapple Beer whispered. “About two hundred yards ahead. Sounds like they’re being swarmed.”
The two stopped hiding and pushed their pace to the limit.
“SPICY BURGER!!”
“CRAZY THURSDAY!!”
Two male voices, thick with the sound of tears and panic, erupted from the fog ahead.
This was followed by the frantic rhythm of footsteps and the heavy thud of someone falling.
“Screw it! I’m going out fighting!”
“Don’t be an idiot! The light is close!”
Near a pile of rubble, four survivors were huddled back–to–back in a circle. They held flickering torches
that were seconds away from dying, their faces masked in total despair.

Chapter 183 The Rescue
Around them, a dozen Shadow Beasts with glowing red eyes were circling.
These predators weren’t rushing in; they were playing with their food.
“Dammit! We’re boxed in!”

A man with a scruffy beard was swinging a greatsword wildly, but most of his strikes hit nothing but air
Riley recognized him immediately–it was BigMountain.
In the center, a girl with a giant backpack was trying to bandage another girl on the ground.
“Snowy… hang in there… please…”
“ROAR–!!!”
The mist erupted.
An elite Shadow Direwolf, twice the size of a normal wolf, leaped from a high ledge, aiming straight for the girls in the center!
“Look out!” BigMountain roared, but he was pinned down by two smaller mobs.
Riley let out a low shout, leaping from a boulder.
BOOM!
She landed right in the middle of the pack of wolves, her impact tearing a hole in their formation.
“Who’s that?!”
The survivors in the circle jumped, fearing a new boss had arrived.
But as the dust settled, they saw Riley standing there with her dual axes, looking like a literal goddess of
war.
“Boss?!”
BigMountain recognized her and gasped.
Riley did a quick sweep of the group.
The situation was better than she’d feared, but only slightly.
Six survivors left.
Aside from BigMountain and Snowy, she didn’t recognize the others. The archer from their previous team was gone. There were two middle–aged men, a girl with a giant backpack, and a teenager in glasses. She couldn’t tell which one was ToxicReaper.
Two of the men were still tirelessly screaming Spicy Burger and Crazy Thursday.
