Silver and lower chests wouldn’t show up, so there was no telling how many were near the
camp.
But when she expanded her vision to a broader radius…
A blindingly bright icon sat abruptly in the northwest.
Its radiance completely eclipsed every other marker on the map.
“Distance: 61.2 miles”
“Tier: Platinum Chest”
“Status: Unclaimed”
“Terrain: Unknown/High–threat biological guardians possible”
Platinum! Sixty miles out!
Riley’s heart gave two heavy thumps.
In this game, the best she’d opened was a Gold chest, which gave her Epic gear and rare blueprints. A Platinum chest… that had to be at least a Legendary orange–tier weapon, right?
And sixty miles… that was a distance of despair for most, but for someone with transport…
Riley messaged the group immediately.
“SpicyBurger: I’m up. I’ve got a Platinum ping! About sixty miles out.”
Pineapple Beer’s reply was almost instantaneous.
“PineappleBeer: Platinum?! Riley, what kind of insane luck do you have?! I’ve got nothing but trash within thirty miles of me!”
“SpicyBurger: Hehe, guess it was my turn to be the Luck God. Don’t hate.”
“TartKing: Hehe, morning Riley! My luck isn’t bad either; I’ve got a Gold ping pretty close by! I’m already out on my sheep!”
“TartKing: The Gold marker area looks empty, so I’m not worried about a fight. And the drop

rates on the road are huge! I just opened a Silver one and found a whole case of self–heating stew! I nearly fainted!”
“PineappleBeer: TartKing, you’re basically an RNG magnet. I’m striking out over here. I did find a few Silver ones, though, and the loot is definitely different.”
“PineappleBeer: I found a Hearth Blueprint and some High–Grade Coal. The drop table is clearly weighted toward heat and survival now. People are reporting radiator blueprints and battery packs! This is too much loot! It’s suspicious!”
Pineapple Beer’s tone turned serious then.
“Pineapple Beer: Riley, do you feel it? This level of generosity feels like a ‘last meal. The system is telling us something is coming–maybe that Super Blizzard you mentioned.”
“PineappleBeer: Based on my past experience, a blizzard of that scale lasts about seven days. Temperatures will hit -40°F or -60°F. Campfire heat will be suppressed. Without secondary heating, people will literally freeze inside their own homes.”
Riley nodded in agreement with the analysis.
“SpicyBurger: I’m thinking the same thing. That’s why I’m going for that Platinum chest.”
“PineappleBeer: Platinum… it’s worth the risk. A chest like that could hold a Shelter Core Upgrade or a Legendary weapon.”
“PineappleBeer: Sixty miles… on skis, that’s a five or six–hour trek, and that’s assuming no mobs or terrain issues. But I have an Outdoor Survival Tent that masks ghoul scent and blocks the cold. If we leave now, we can hit it before dark and camp there if we have to!”
“PineappleBeer: Riley, wait for me! I’m portaling over right now! I’ve got rations and potions, I’m fully geared. Let’s move!”

was for people on two legs.
SpicyBurger: Sure, get over here. But don’t worry about camping out; we’ll be back for dinner.”
“PineappleBeer: Unless your Agility is double mine, sixty miles is still a four–hour sprint! Fine,
