Under the prolonged drain of the battle, she could no longer organize an effective offense. She could only struggle to hold her ground, buying more time for PineappleBeer.
The Sanctuary Vice–President watched the pinned–down Riley, a cruel sneer twisting his face.
“Die, you WarWolf dog!”
He raised his longsword, intending to step in personally to deliver the final strike.
However, at the exact second his focus was locked entirely on Riley while preparing to issue the final order, he overlooked one thing.
Or rather, he overlooked one person.
The person who had been “standing at attention” in the light pillar, treated by everyone as a mere target or background element.
No one noticed that just a single second ago.
That excruciatingly long progress bar had finally reached the end.
At the moment he raised his sword.
A dark shadow suddenly elongated across the snow behind him.
The man barely had time to re
react before a figure blurred to his side.
He frantically tried to pivot his
to meet the threat, but it was too late.
Squelch!
The sound of a sharp blade entering flesh was disturbingly faint.
The Vice–President’s sneer froze on his face.
He looked down, staring in disbelief at a black blade–tip protruding from his chest.
The blade was stained with blood and pulsed with an eerie, violet toxic radiance.
“Who…”
He struggled to turn his head.
“Your worst nightmare.”

The surrounding Priests and Mages shrieked as their souls nearly left their bodies.
They hadn’t even seen what had actually happened.
Their vision blurred, and the woman who was behind their leader was suddenly among them.
With a flash of steel, a Priest was deleted instantly, leaving the rest too terrified to advance.
She didn’t linger for a brawl; using the recoil of her strike, she kicked the Priest’s corpse away. She performed a backflip in mid–air and landed firmly in front of Riley.
The clearing fell into a deafening silence.
Everyone stared in horror at the woman who had appeared from the void.
Dressed in sleek leather armor and holding a black war–blade, her eyes were as cold as ice.
It was PineappleBeer!
The opener who was supposed to be stuck “channeling” the chest!
“Beer!” (2
Riley looked at the familiar back, her frayed nerves finally finding a moment of relief.
PineappleBeer didn’t turn around, instead flicking two Advanced Recovery Potions to Riley.
“You good?”
PineappleBeer glanced at the blood–drenched Riley, a flash of concern crossing her eyes.
“I’ve felt better.”
Riley managed a grimace of a smile.
“If you were any slower, I really would have had to do something desperate with them.”
“My bad.”
“Didn’t the system say the chest took ten minutes? Aren’t there two minutes left?”
“I’ve got Haste Gloves; they boost the channeling speed.”
As she spoke, PineappleBeer pulled two more vials from her belt and tossed them to Riley.
“Catch! Heal up first, you took a beating. Don’t worry, none of them are leaving.”
Riley caught the vials and downed them in one go.
