He frantically opened his bag, dumping items onto the snow like he was clearing out trash. “Here! Take my gear! Take my potions! Materials! It’s all yours! Just let me live!”
Riley glanced at the pile.
Mostly basic blue items and standard potions. He was a VP; there was no way he was this broke.
“That’s it?”
Riley gave a cold snort, applying more pressure to her boot. “You still don’t get it. You think WarWolf is hurting for scraps like these?
“I want that item that saved your life.”
Riley officially bared her fangs. “And every rare blueprint or unique item you’re holding. Miss one, and I’ll carve you into a stump and hang you from Sanctuary’s gate!”
Holy_Judgement’s entire frame shuddered.
That item was a one–time use, but he had two more precious Substitute Dolls he’d been saving for emergencies.
He desperately didn’t want to part with such rare items.
But the alternative…
Staring into the murderous eyes of the two “WarWolf demons, especially the one claiming they didn’t leave survivors, his resolve crumbled.
Without his life, he didn’t have a future anyway!
“I’ll give them up! All of them!”
With shaking hands, he pulled two strange wooden dolls and a shimmering golden scroll from a hidden pocket.
“Substitute Doll x 2”
PineappleBeer snatched the dolls and gave the man a heavy kick for good measure.
“Keep going. Stop acting and empty your pockets!”
PineappleBeer shouted with a menacing snarl.
Holy Judgement jumped in surprise.
He wondered if she had an item that could see through his inventory.
Broken and terrified, he stopped holding back.

“And this…”
He produced a black stone. “Obsidian. A high–tier material…”
Riley snatched the permit, her eyes lighting up for a second.

pathetic retreat, PineappleBeer finally burst into laughter.
Riley, that was ruthless! You let him live just so he could spread the word, didn’t you?!”
ppleBeer clutched her stomach. “WarWolf and Sanctuary are officially at war now. That was a master–class frame job!”
Well, they’re the ones who love claiming they’ll hunt people down no matter the distance,” Riley shrugged. “I’m just helping their eputation.”
“By the way, how did you know he was hiding more?” Riley asked
“People like him are always snakes. I was just bluffing to see if he’d blink, and he did.”
“Nice.” Riley gave her a thumbs–up and then looked at the air above PineappleBeer’s head.
A translucent, platinum–gold pillar of light was shooting into the sky from her position.
The special marker for the “Platinum Chest” holder.
“You’re a giant neon sign now,” Riley said, pointing at the beam. “The area is clear, but other guilds are likely on their way. That fight made a lot of noise.
“And this light is way too obvious. We need to move.”
