Chapter 289 The Mirror Space
“Huh?” Riley had not expected that.

Neeko was usually a well-behaved girl. Riley had told her not to pull Fluffy’s fur, even though the lamb’s fur tasted sweet.
After a quick thought, Riley figured it out.
Neeko obeyed the rule strictly. She never plucked a single hair off Fluffy. Still, she could not resist how sweet the lamb tasted, so she secretly licked it nonstop. In her mind, licking was not pulling.
It made perfect sense for her to start overfeeding the lamb afterward.
“Alright, I’ll talk to her when we get back.” Riley laughed softly.
Neeko was ridiculously simple-minded, completely pure and untouched by the cruelty of this world.
“Let’s go.”
“Okay!”
Riley turned around and took the lead, ready to leave the underground altar.
While walking, she casually lifted the mirror in her hand for one last glance.
The pitch-black matte surface suddenly rippled like water.
The blurry image cleared up instantly.
Riley’s pupils narrowed sharply.
The mirror did reflect her face.
But something was terribly wrong.
She froze mid-step.
She twisted her wrist, trying to adjust the angle to see PineappleBeer and TartKing behind her.
Logically speaking, the two girls should have been less than half a yard behind her, chatting about dinner menus.
However, in the mirror, there was nothing behind Riley.
No people at all.
Only rolling white clouds.
“Pine?”
Riley called out and spun around abruptly.
Her voice faded into thin air with no reply.

The attar still stood where it was, yet not a single person remained beside her.
A sudden gust of wind howled in her ears.
“Tart? Pine?!”
Her heart skipped a beat. An overwhelming sense or danger crashed over her.
The world spun violently in an instant.

The cave, the underground altar, the black stone coffin, the boiling lava lake, and her friends-all of it vanished completely.
Boundless white clouds stretched out all around her.
The sunset glow dyed the clouds a gorgeous crimson gold. The view was breathtakingly beautiful, yet painfully empty and desolate.
“Where… am I?”
Riley scanned her surroundings.
She stood on a massive circular platform paved with pure white jade. Faint golden patterns spread across its surface, pulsing softly as if breathing.
The platform was roughly fifty yards in diameter, floating alone above the endless sea of clouds.
Beyond its edges lay nothing but bottomless darkness.
“An illusion?”
That was Riley’s first thought.
She pinched her thigh hard without hesitation.
“Hiss-”
Pain shot through her skin.
The pain was real.
“Not an illusion? Did I get teleported?”

Riley forced herself to stay calm. As an experienced dungeon survivor, she could handle bizarre scenarios like this.
Her top priority was figuring out what had happened and finding her teammates.
“The mirror!”
Riley suddenly remembered the item in her grip.
She lowered her head and stared at the mirror again.
This time, the reflection left her completely stunned.

The mirror did not show the sea of clouds or the floating platform beneath her feet.
Instead, it displayed the dark underground altar.
