Chapter 701 The Devil’s Contract
Chapter 701 The Devil’s Contract
Riley hooked her fingers around the edge of the mirror and pulled it hard.
Divine Mirror slid out from its place over her chest.
Its surface was pitch black.
Dark patterns along the rim slowly lit up one by one.
Power.
This was the moment Riley needed power more than anything.
She didn’t care what the cost was anymore. Not one bit.
Soft ripples suddenly spread across the black mirror surface.
Riley saw her own reflection staring back at her.
In the blink of an eye, the scene flipped. Her reflection stepped straight into the mirror.
Everything outside the glass got swallowed inside with it.

One by one, images surfaced on the mirror: the tomb platform, the spacetime vortex, the giant beast’s bone claws, Pineapple Beer’s cloak fluttering in the pull.
Meanwhile, the black stone ground beneath her feet vanished completely.
Wind rushed up from empty air below.
Riley glanced down.
She was standing on a single floating stone slab.
Endless sea of clouds stretched out in every direction around her.
Heavy clouds drifted slowly, streaked with faint sunset hues. Far off in the distance, black ridge–like shadows poked through the mist before sinking back down again.
Her injuries hadn’t healed.
Her left arm was still numb, her chest tight and aching. Blood dripped from her fingertips onto the
slab.
But the tomb’s terrifying pull was gone.

Leaning lazily over the platform’s edge was Demon God Baal, only his upper body visible.

Higigantic frame rose from the depths of the cloud sea. Fine dark patterns crawled across his dark red skin, and his twin horns ‘curved like two massive black mountain ranges. One hand rested casually on the platform rim, his fingertips hanging low enough to nearly touch Riley’s floating stone slab.
His eyes lowered to look straight down at her.
There was no temptation like the first time they’d met.
No softened voice, no fake warmth to lure her in.
He looked at Riley like she was prey that had walked straight into his palm.
“We meet again.”
Baal’s voice rumbled up from beneath the clouds, making the stone slab tremble faintly.
Riley tightened her grip on the mirror.
“Help me.”
Baal let out a low laugh.
The clouds sank slightly under the weight of his amusement.
“I thought you wanted nothing. Thought you looked down on my power.”
Riley lifted her gaze to meet his eyes.
“Name your price.”
Baal stared down at her, clear amusement in his huge eyes.
“Humans are truly interesting. The first time you saw me, you wanted to smash this mirror to pieces. You treated me like a plague, a trap, something disgusting to be rid of.”
He tapped one finger lightly against the platform edge.
“And now

“I know.”
you don’t.”
Baal leaned forward slightly, his enormous shadow pressing down over her.
“I don’t care about the cost,” Riley said firmly.
Baal chuckled lowly.
“Still the same stubborn temper. I truly believed you were above all desire. I told you we’d cross paths again.”
Riley raised the Divine Mirror, not bothering to argue.
“I need power.”
“What will you give me in return?”
Riley didn’t answer right away.
She glanced down at her left arm.
It was almost completely numb, yet blood still kept dripping from her fingertips.
Riley lifted her right hand and pressed it firmly over her chest.
She’d torn open her outer armor earlier. Now that the mirror was gone, only marked inner chest plating remained.
“Myself.”
The amusement in Baal’s eyes deepened.
“You’re not enough. The power you’re asking for is far too great. It’d only buy you a single instant of strength.”
“It’s enough,” Riley said.
“It isn’t.” Baal replied unhurriedly. “I can feel what you’re facing. One instant won’t save them.”
Riley stared straight at him.
“Then what do you want?”
Baal extended one finger.
The tip stopped a few feet in front of Riley’s stone slab.
“A contract”
