The car stopped inside Justin’s villa. Before Danielle could get out, Justin slowly opened his eyes and spoke in a low voice. “Everything in the Bartons has always belonged to Adriana. Instead of wasting your time fighting over things that were never yours and ending up with nothing, you’re better off thinking about how to improve yourself. Those things could be yours, because they should have been yours to begin with.”
Danielle paused halfway through getting out of the car. She knew Justin was reminding her not to keep chasing after things that were never hers.
“Mm. I know.” Danielle didn’t argue. She just nodded.
In the past, she would have gone ballistic and argued with Justin, demanding to know why did he feel she had no claim in the Bartons‘ assests. She was part of the Barton bloodline too, so of course she’d have a share by default.
But now, she fell silent. She truly believed that everything in the Bartons rightfully belonged to Adriana.
She had even started to believe those rumors, the ones saying Chandler had killed Adriana’s biological
parents.
In the past, Danielle had never seen herself as a villain. She used to get furious whenever people gossiped that the true heir to the Barton fortune had been killed by Chandler.
She didn’t believe it. She thought her father might have his flaws, but he wasn’t a murderer.
But now, she believed it.
If Chandler could kill his own daughter, then killing Mister and Mrs. Barton, who stood in his way, wouldn’t be anything to him.
As Justin got out of the car, he said something with meaning behind it. “You reap what you sow.”
Danielle’s current life was a second chance given by Adriana’s kindness.
If she continued down the same path, then she really would have no way out.
Danielle’s eyes turned red, burning with emotion.
It wasn’t that she blamed Justin for not trusting her. She was just afraid of what Chandler might have done.
If… if the truth ever came to light, and Chandler really was the one who killed Adriana’s parents, then what would I do? How would Adriana and Justin look at me then? She would never escape being the daughter of a murderer.
Her mind felt foggy as Danielle followed Justin into the living room. She didn’t notice right away that Susan had already fallen to the floor.
Susan’s eyes were red, and she was holding a pair of slippers. It
for Danielle, but Danielle couldn’t process why she was sitting like she had been trying to get them
the ground.

“T–that’s… that’s different. Danielle is still a guest here, afterall,” Susan said it softly.

Justin nodded. “Then just treat her like a guest. You’re the one who belongs here. She’s only a guest.”
After saying that, Justin went to the study.
Susan froze for a moment, then a blush slowly spread across her face. Justi nad said she was the one who belonged here
A trace of disappointment flickered in Danielle’s eyes. Her chest still ached when he said those words.
From the moment she realized she liked Justin, she had known she was done for.
But Justin was never going to have any feelings for her.
“You heard that?” Susan smiled as she teased Danielle, her smugness almost impossible to hide. “I’m the lady of this house, and you’re just a guest. If it weren’t for Jeremy, do you really think Justin would even bother with you? He’d probably want to grind you into dust.”
Danielle stood there in silence for a long time.
Thinking Danielle had been shaken, Susan kept going. “In Justin’s eyes, I’m the one he values and trusts the most. I’m the one he’s never gotten over from childhood. I’m his first love, the one he’ll never forget.”
Dánielle let out a cold laugh. “The real Susan might be. But you? You’re just a fake. What, you’ve been pretending to be Susan for a few days, and now you actually think you are her?”
Danielle shoved past Susan and walked straight to the guest room.
She wasn’t afraid of the woman. Susan didn’t have much going on in her head–just loud and dramatic. Someone like Savannah was the real threat.
Susan’s face turned pale with anger. But she didn’t dare push Danielle too far, afraid Danielle might say something to Justin.
Gritting her teeth, Susan’s eyes shifted as she started thinking about how to drive Danielle out.
But Justin was someone who valued feelings and loyalty deeply. Susan knew that for Jeremy’s sake, Justin
wouldn’t touch Danielle.
So she could only start with Adriana.
As long as Adriana stopped trusting Danielle and kicked her out of Barton Group, Justin would naturally stop caring about her.
A faint smile lifted Susan’s lips. She decided she needed to get to know Adriana.
After all, Adriana was now the one in charge of Barton Group now. She was the granddaughter Jeremy truly cared about.
