Chapter 433 Surprise Reunion
“I thought it was my next-door neighbour bringing me some food she made again.”
As she answered, her lips trembled slightly, her hands at a loss for where to place them.
“P-please… please come in.”
The words slipped out, and she immediately felt she sounded far too polite.
“Okay.”
Alfred responded softly.

Nella was just about to reach out to help him when she saw him bend down skillfully and take off his shoes.
He didn’t seem like someone who couldn’t see at all.
Nella stared at him blankly. It wasn’t until he walked toward the center of the living room and bumped into things beside him several times that she was finally certain he still couldn’t see.
She hurried to the shoe cabinet, took out a spare pair of slippers, and helped him sit down on the couch.
“These are my slippers. They’re a bit small, but you’ll have to make do for now.”
“Okay.”
Alfred smiled and nodded. Then a hint of embarrassment appeared on his face. “I wanted to show you how normal I am now, but I ended up embarrassing myself right away.”
Listening to his light tone, Nella’s eyes stung.
“It’s fine. You just got here. You’re not familiar with the environment/yet.”
She had already heard about Alfred from her parents. They said that after he was rescued that time, he spent a long period recuperating.
Later, while rehabilitating the muscles in his back, he also learned to adapt to life as a blind person.
From stumbling and bumping into things at the beginning, to eventually being able to move as freely as a normal person in familiar spaces.
It all sounded simple in just a few sentences, but Nella knew how difficult it was for someone who lost their sight midway through life.
What he had to overcome wasn’t just the fear and inconvenience brought by darkness, but also the huge psychological gap.
“Nella.”
Alfred grabbed her hand, rubbing it gently again and again. Then he stretched out his arm and pulled her
into his embrace.

Chapter 433 Surprise Reunion
“I missed you so much.”
That one sentence made the tears she had been holding back rush out uncontrollably.

“I had already prepared myself to never disturb you again for the rest of my life, but I still couldn’t hold back. I’m really useless, aren’t I?”
Nella leaned silently against his chest. The familiar, clean scent of the man made the heart that had wandered for more than a year finally settle down at this moment.
Yet she said, “Mm, you are pretty useless.”
Hearing her say that, Alfred laughed softly and hugged her even tighter.
That long-lost sense of reality and fulfillment made neither of them want to let go.
Suddenly, the doorbell rang again.
Nella pulled away from Alfred’s hug and smiled at him.
“This time, it really is my neighbour.”
She quickly walked to the door and opened it.
“Nella, look! I brought you some freshly made meatballs.”
Outside the door, it really was her neighbour.
But it wasn’t just her.
Her parents, Clifford and Felicia, were there too, along with Regis, Alfred’s parents, and Camelia.
Marshal stuck out his tongue, wagging his tail so fast it looked like a propeller.
Sunny was held in her dad’s arms, her chin lifted high like a proud little queen.
Nella stared at the group in disbelief.
“You guys…
The flight her parents told her about was clearly supposed to be tomorrow.
Had she remembered it wrong?
“They came, just like me, to spend the New Year with my wife.”
