Fanny chose her words carefully.
Domingo, on the other hand, grew agitated, perhaps thinking of Hanley's betrayal.
“I can help, but I need you to guarantee the safety of my wife and child.”
Domingo clenched his jaw.
If he had known that such a small gain would cause so much trouble, even endangering his wife and child, he would have chased Hanley away with a broom the moment he showed up at his door.
“I already promised you that.”
Ruby said coolly.
Domingo relaxed completely upon hearing her words.
He smiled in relief, his tone even turning light and playful. “You're Hanley's daughter.”
Ruby's impassive expression finally shifted, her smooth brow furrowing. “No, I'm not.”
Domingo studied Ruby's face for a long moment before his smile faded, and he said seriously, “You really don't look like him.”
“So what do I do now?”
With the matter settled, Ruby stood up. “Wait for my signal. I'll contact you when the time comes.”
“You'll stay with them for now,” she said, gesturing to Garrison and Townsend.
Domingo's eyes first landed on the shifty-looking Townsend, and his mouth twitched. He only relaxed when his gaze fell upon Garrison.
Once their accommodations were arranged, Domingo and his wife left with Garrison and Townsend. Having been there overnight, Hayley and Fanny didn't plan to stay any longer either.
Especially Hayley.
She had been glancing at her watch intermittently, a small gesture that didn't escape Ruby's notice.
“In a hurry?”
Ruby asked, holding the door just as Hayley was about to close it.
Meeting Ruby's gaze, Hayley seemed at a loss for words.
She pursed her lips.

Ruby said, looking Hayley in the eye, her tone serious.
After the precedent set by Cassian, she wanted no more emotional entanglements.

“You should go take care of him.”
Ruby said with a nod, not keeping her any longer.
Hayley strode away.
But when she arrived at the hotel where Landon was staying, no one answered, no matter how much she knocked.
Left with no choice, she had to force the lock again, right under the surveillance camera.
But when she pushed the door open, she found the room completely empty.
Even the bedsheets and duvet cover had been changed and tidied up.
