She was fully aware of the young heir's infatuation. However, considering she was legally his aunt, there was absolutely no way she would ever string him along.
Ivy's demeanor remained glacial. She quickly wrapped up her duties and briskly exited the room without another glance.
Ethan sat there, nursing yet another brutal rejection.
He had barely made his pitch, yet she had completely shut him down again.
Was he truly that repulsive to her?
Glancing at his private nurse, Ethan ordered,
"Go next door and fetch the girl who helped me earlier. Tell her I want to thank her in person."
The nurse understood instantly and headed out to summon her.
Conveniently, Ivy had just gone to the nurses' station and wasn't in the room.
Hazel was also packing up to leave for campus.
When the nurse relayed the message, she cautiously walked over.
Standing before Ethan, Hazel kept her expression neutral. "You asked for me?"
She had grabbed his arm earlier but hadn't actually taken a good look at his face.
Now, seeing him head-on, she had to admit he was shockingly handsome.
So, the gorgeous neighbor Gemma had been gossiping about was definitely him.
"That's right."
Ethan leaned back against his pillows in his hospital gown, his sharp eyes scrutinizing Hazel.
She looked absolutely nothing like Ivy.
Though both were undeniably attractive,
you would never guess they were related by blood.
Reeling his thoughts back, Ethan politely thanked her for steadying him in the hallway.
Eventually, he cut straight to the chase.
"Ivy and I are friends. Let's exchange numbers. If you ever want updates on what's going on around here, I can keep you in the loop."
In truth, he merely wanted to use her as an insider to dig up more information on Ivy.
He was desperate to know where Ivy had magically conjured the money to afford Foster Medical Center.
This facility was far beyond the reach of the average citizen.
Since Ivy stubbornly kept her supposed husband a secret, she likely wasn't married at all.
There was bound to be some dark secret lurking in the shadows, and he was determined to uncover it.
