"And those sounds you were making were just vile."
Natalie's words were like a dagger to the heart, leaving Emily so horrified she almost collapsed.
Seeing the strange looks from the people around her, she instantly regretted confronting Natalie.
"Natalie, don't make things up. You must have misheard."
Natalie raised an eyebrow, her smile beautiful. "Perhaps. But if Miss Parker is so intent on playing the hero, I don't mind confirming what I *really* heard."
A threat. It was a blatant threat.
Emily glanced at Adrian. She had wanted to help him and curry some favor, but Natalie had her cornered.
Damn it, how could there be surveillance here?
Emily shot a venomous glare at Natalie and hurried away.
Natalie turned to Adrian and offered an apologetic smile. "Mr. Adrian, attempting murder right before the New Year? I guess you'll be spending the holidays in a detention center."
Adrian, trembling from the pain and with his head still ringing, was momentarily stunned by Natalie's words.
Attempted murder?!
He snapped his gaze to Natalie, who was already pulling out her phone to call the police. It was only then that he remembered he had started the confrontation and thrown the first punch—or rather, push.
Natalie was already in a wheelchair, and he had bullied her. If this got out, he would be the one to lose face.
"Natalie, I was just messing with you! I was just mad, so I kicked your wheelchair. How is that attempted murder?"
Natalie pointed behind her, where the wheelchair was pressed against the wall.
"Adrian, with that push just now, if the elevator doors had just opened and my wheels had gotten stuck, do you have any idea what could have happened?"
Natalie’s words cut through his ego like a surgeon’s blade, exposing the rot beneath.
Adrian was left utterly humiliated.
In their circle, all the rich kids put on a front of elegance and refinement while doing unspeakable things behind the scenes.
It was an unspoken agreement. But to have Natalie call it out so bluntly in public made his face burn with shame.
The surrounding crowd began to point and whisper.
"Adrian, you've been arrogant and tyrannical your whole life, bullying the weak. If it weren't for your relationship with Sebastian, it's doubtful you'd even still be alive."
A man who had been bullied by Adrian before now stepped forward, his voice laced with mockery.
Adrian whirled to face the speaker. "Stephen Ward, what the hell are you chirping about? Haven't I taught you enough of a lesson already?"
