For the next hour, they were entirely absorbed in business, exchanging ideas and sharing occasional, knowing smiles.
Time seemed to slow down, wrapping the room in a comfortable warmth.
A harmonious atmosphere filled the spacious living room as their voices seamlessly wove together. They pitched their own perspectives and listened intently to each other's feedback.
Matthew found himself constantly astounded by Natalie's innovative concepts. The deeper they delved, the more exhilarated he became, convinced that the woman sitting across from him was nothing short of brilliant.
Lost in the rhythm of their collaboration, they completely lost track of time. Two hours later, they had finalized every detail.
Natalie's back was screaming in protest. The intense focus had taken a brutal toll on her body.
She knew her limits—she simply wasn't built for a desk job. Her ideal state was lying completely flat.
Two straight hours of sitting upright was her absolute maximum.
That bastard Sebastian. She had refused his offer, yet he still managed to maneuver his way into a partnership with her through a backdoor.
"Matthew, it's getting really late. Let's call it a night. My back is killing me. I'm definitely not cut out for office work."
She stood up, a hint of exasperation in her voice, and stretched her stiff lower back. Her leg was throbbing, too.
Matthew watched her with an affectionate, indulgent smile, knowing the long hours had been hard on her. "Alright! I've packed some gifts and late-night snacks for you. I'll have the butler load them into your car."
Natalie beamed, taking in his incredibly gentle demeanor. This was a future billionaire powerhouse—it was surreal how warm and grounded he was.
"Thank you, Matthew. That's so thoughtful. I brought you something, too. I made some homemade snacks. You can munch on them while you work. They aren't spicy, but they're incredibly savory."
His gaze grew even softer, brimming with unspoken affection. He smiled and nodded. "You're an amazing cook, Natalie. I'll definitely have something to look forward to during my late-night shifts."
He stood up smoothly. "I'll walk you out."
Natalie didn't argue. She settled back into her wheelchair. She needed a solid three months to fully heal, and she was determined to stay in the chair as much as possible to speed up her recovery.
Glancing at her injured leg, Matthew couldn't help but think of the rumors that Sebastian and Joanna were officially together. He couldn't stop himself from asking, "Natalie, did you and Sebastian finalize the divorce?"
