Joanna stared at Natalie with curiosity and asked, "Natalie, Sebastian is with me now. Are you really not sad at all?"
Natalie was slightly surprised. "Is this the secret you were talking about?"
Joanna shook her head, looking at the utter lack of sorrow on Natalie's face. She felt a bit disappointed. "No! That's not the secret. My secret is that after you died, Sebastian realized he had fallen in love with you. He died too, though I don't know how. I have no memory of the exact process of his death, but I know he loved you. To protect you when you were pregnant, he had to lock you up. He knew some dark secrets and was afraid he couldn't keep you safe, so he confined you to the villa."
"I remember I used to constantly provoke you just to make you feel pain—the suffocating despair of being abandoned. You were supposed to live a life with absolutely nothing. You didn't deserve that kind of wealth, and you certainly didn't deserve Sebastian's love. Perhaps I sensed his feelings for you. I hated him so much. In my memories, all I wanted to do was kill him to vent my anger."
Natalie fell silent.
So, Sebastian had loved her after all.
But a piece of trash was a piece of trash until the very end.
She let out a dry laugh, her beautiful brows furrowing slightly. "Joanna, he's already by your side. What's the point of telling me all this? A traitor—the moment he betrayed our marriage, he was no longer worth forgiving. I told you last time, if you love picking up garbage, you can keep it all."
Joanna choked on her words. She had expected this revelation to deeply trigger Natalie, but her response was completely nonchalant.
"Natalie, you really don't care anymore?" her voice rose a few pitches.
Natalie leisurely picked up a small pineapple pastry and took a bite. It was delicious. She loved pineapple. She polished it off in one bite, still craving more.
Not far away, several people were watching them, but no one dared to approach.
"Care about what? Love that can't be salvaged, a man who won't stay—there's no point in forcing it. Is he the only man left in the world? There are plenty of better men out there. Joanna, you picked him up, so don't come back to show off. It's just embarrassing."
If Joanna knew that the man she loved the most still had feelings for Emily Parker, would she lose her mind?
After all, she had gone to such extremes for that man.
He really was a stingy bastard.
Fortunately, she didn't care anymore.
"Help! Help me! Somebody help!" A sudden cry echoed from the crowd nearby.
Hearing the familiar voice, Joanna broke into a sinister smile.
Natalie already had a bad feeling, and Joanna's sudden appearance had interrupted her thoughts.
She glanced sideways and saw the triumphant smirk on Joanna's face.
"Joanna, what did you do?" Natalie demanded loudly.
