Sebastian saw she wasn't moving. “If you don’t like it here, we can move somewhere else.”
Natalie sneered. “Living with you, I wouldn’t like it no matter where we were. Stop being pathetic. We can never live together in peace in this lifetime.”
Sebastian’s gaze dimmed abruptly.
Her eyes were filled with hatred. The things he had done to her in the past were impossible for her to forget.
But he…
“No. We are husband and wife. We have to live together.” Sebastian knew she was unwilling to stay here, so they would go somewhere else.
He had many properties. He had chosen this one because it was close to the office.
“Sebastian…”
Sebastian stopped walking. “Natalie, I did a lot of things wrong before. I apologize. Let’s live well from now on.”
Natalie was taken aback. Sebastian wanted to live a good life with her? It was too late.
“What gives you the right to say that to me? I told you last time not to apologize, because I will never forgive you.”
In the future, because of Joanna, he would push her, pregnant, from the top of a tall building.
She had that nightmare frequently. Some months, she'd have it almost every night. When she woke up, the pain was enough to kill her.
For the rest of her life, she would rather be alone than have anything to do with him ever again.
Natalie's eyes were filled with loathing.
Sebastian frowned and said softly, “At least you can’t leave right now.”
Natalie asked, puzzled, “What do you mean by that?”
“Tsk! That’s because you all believed her. You all chose to turn a blind eye. Her schemes were so obvious. With your intelligence, do you really think you couldn't see through them? You just didn’t want to believe me, that's all.”
“Did I not fight back? I fought back every time. You were the one who was blind, and you blame me for being weak. Honestly, meeting you was the unluckiest thing that ever happened to me.”
“Who knows how many dirty tricks Joanna has pulled behind the scenes. Do you think you can cover for her forever? It’s impossible to hide it for a lifetime. When I get my revenge, I’ll send both of you to prison. Then I’ll travel the world, find a few handsome young men, and live a fabulous life.”
Sebastian stared at her, stunned for a moment. She hated him that much.
And she dared to find other men?
After a long pause, he finally said, “Do you really think I’m the only reason you became so miserable?”
Natalie froze, understanding his meaning. Her gaze darkened. “You were part of it, but mostly it was because of me. I craved a warmth I could never have, so I deserved it. The truth is, if I hadn't been willing, none of you could have hurt me. It really was my own fault.”
“Now that I’ve woken up, I don’t crave it anymore. I’m trying my best to draw a line between us. I don’t want to get hurt because of you people ever again.”
