"Think about it again. The young master loves you very much, but his hands are tied. He can't even show his face in public. You two have supported each other for so many years to get to this point. Are you really going to throw it all away?"
Horace felt that Joanna was a person full of contradictions.
She could be gentle, she could be a decorative socialite, and she could be a powerful businesswoman.
Her personality was ever-changing, a reflection of her own internal conflict.
Joanna was frustrated and hurt. "Horace, do you think he knew about Robert's identity all along?"
"I'm not sure about that," Horace admitted. "I only found out today myself."
"Hah..." Joanna let out a cold laugh. "You see? He's keeping secrets from me now."
"Don't be impulsive. I'll call the young master and ask. It's probably just a miscommunication between you two."
Horace hung up.
Joanna sat on her bed, tears silently streaming down her face.
She truly didn't understand how things had spun so far out of her control.
That night, Natalie's sleep was fitful. She dreamed again, reliving the horrific scene of her death.
"Natalie, go to hell!"
Sebastian's malicious voice ripped her from the dream.
"Ah! No!" Natalie shot up in bed, looking around the unfamiliar room in a daze.
Why was she having these dreams again?
It had been a while.
She closed her eyes and slowly sat up, glancing at the phone on the bedside table. It was already eight o'clock.
Taking a deep breath, she got up to wash. When she came out, she went downstairs to make breakfast for Sebastian.
Sebastian heard noises from the kitchen and opened his bedroom door. Dressed in a cozy white sweater, he leaned against the staircase, an involuntary smile spreading across his face as he watched Natalie busy in the kitchen.
About ten minutes later, Natalie emerged with breakfast.
She was carrying two bowls of tomato and egg pasta when she looked up and saw Sebastian.
She glanced out the window. The snow was falling, but hell hadn't frozen over. Did Sebastian just say thank you?
After breakfast, Sebastian drove Natalie to work. The entire day, she felt as if she were floating.
It wasn't until that afternoon that she came back to reality.
Sebastian picked her up to go to a banquet, and she finally snapped out of her daze. It had been an incredibly busy day. She continued working in the car.
As they pulled up to the venue, Sebastian finally spoke. "Natalie, take a break. We're here."
"Okay, just a second," Natalie replied.
She quickly closed her laptop. "Alright, let's go."
The two of them got out of the car and walked toward the banquet hall.
Inside, Wendy was also in attendance.
"Mom, tonight's banquet is spectacular. It's a great opportunity for you to see the high life."
Hearing a familiar voice, Wendy spun around and saw Joanna. She asked pointedly, "Joanna, what did you just call her?"
