There was a time when he, too, had been the most important person in Natalie's life.
A deep sense of regret washed over Sebastian. It was too late, but he wasn't going to give up.
"Natalie, help me get her up. I'll carry her upstairs where it's heated."
"Oh! Okay."
A tremor ran through Natalie's voice, but she didn't hesitate. With Sebastian's help, Susan could get treatment faster.
Susan was already unconscious from the cold, and she was terrified for her.
Together, they helped Susan up. Sebastian bent his tall frame, scooped Susan into his arms, and headed for the elevator.
Natalie was in such a hurry she'd forgotten the cold. She followed behind Sebastian, praying that Susan would hold on.
The hotel lobby on the first floor was warm.
In just those few minutes, Natalie was already shivering uncontrollably.
Her hands trembled as she shakily held her phone and called Luna.
But there was no answer.
What's going on? Why isn't Luna picking up her phone all of a sudden?
Sebastian laid Susan down on a sofa in the lobby, where the heating was strongest.
Natalie knelt and resumed rubbing Susan's hands.
She looked at Sebastian, who was standing idly by. "What are you standing there for? Get over here and help me rub her hands."
Sebastian said, "That's not appropriate."
Her distant, business-like tone made him glance at her coldly. If it weren't for Susan needing him, she wouldn't have let him stay.
He didn't say a word, just lifted Susan into his arms and said in a low voice, "Let's go."
After thanking the servers, Natalie followed Sebastian out.
Once they were in the ambulance, Natalie looked at Sebastian. "Sebastian, thank you for your help tonight."
Sebastian's brow furrowed. Seeing her distant, cold eyes, his own gaze hardened. "Natalie, are you just going to toss me aside now that you donβt need me anymore?"
Natalie frowned. "When did I ever use you? In your eyes, is asking for help the same as using someone?"
"Anyone would have helped in this situation," Natalie said, her voice devoid of any emotion.
She suspected that Joanna was behind what happened to Susan.
