Chapter 401: Chapter 401 Escaping to Paradise

Joseph’s POV

On our way to the marina, Ava and I sent messages to our friends explaining we’d be at sea until Monday. Their reactions ranged from annoyed to outright indignant, especially Eleanor who bombarded us with texts demanding immediate updates.

"Eleanor’s threatening to swim after us if we don’t call her by tomorrow," Ava laughed, showing me her phone screen filled with all-caps messages and excessive emojis.

I kissed her temple while keeping one hand on the steering wheel. "Let her try. I’m not sharing you with anyone this weekend."

"Antonio texted asking if everything went according to plan," Ava said, scrolling through her messages. "Your nephew is quite the gossip, isn’t he?"

I chuckled, thinking about my chatty but well-meaning nephew. "That kid can’t keep a secret to save his life. By now, half the pack probably knows we’re together."

"Only half?" Ava raised an eyebrow. "I’d bet my chocolate stash that everyone knows by now."

The thought of my whole pack buzzing about us should have bothered me. After all, it was the famous playboy Alpha finally getting caught. But, to my surprise, I felt nothing but pride. Let them talk. Let them all know that Ava was mine.

We arrived at the marina where my yacht was already prepared and waiting. The captain nodded respectfully as we approached, helping Ava aboard while the crew loaded our supplies. Within minutes, we were gliding across the harbor toward my private island retreat.

I watched Ava as she stood at the bow, her hair whipping in the wind, face tilted toward the sun. She looked radiant, completely at peace.

"This is perfect timing," I murmured to Dean.

"Agreed," my wolf responded.

The small island came into view about an hour later.

The entire Saturday passed in a blur of laughter, lovemaking, swimming, and talking. We shared stories about the month we’d been apart, though I carefully avoided mentioning my father’s ongoing investigation for rape and other charges. Some topics could wait.

Sunday morning, I woke to an empty bed and the smell of coffee. I found Ava in the kitchen wearing nothing but a tiny white bikini under a sheer, short mint-green cover-up that left absolutely nothing to the imagination.

"Moon Goddess," I breathed, taking in the sight of her. "You might as well be naked in that thing."

Ava turned with a mischievous smile. "That’s exactly the reaction I was hoping for."

"Indecent exposure?" I suggested, pulling her against me.

"Precisely." She nodded, her smile widening as she wrapped her arms around my neck.

I kissed her deeply, lifting her onto the counter where she faced me, legs wrapping around my waist. I tugged at the flimsy cover-up, tossing it aside.

"Sweetheart, that barely qualifies as a bikini," I growled, my voice thick with desire.

"It covers all the essential bits," she defended with a grin while I stared hungrily at her stunning figure.

"Well, it looks amazing on you, but it barely covers anything at all."

She laughed heartily at that.

"I bought it specifically for you," she admitted, admiring herself. "Though it looks good enough I might wear it to the public beach."

I landed a light smack on her perfect ass, making her gasp. "Don’t you dare show what’s mine to other men."

"If that’s how you spank me, I might have to wear even less to the beach," she teased with a devilish smirk that nearly drove me insane.
