My father nods, sighing in relief. Then, the bathroom door opens, and Sera walks out, her hair still damp. She bows before my father.

She begins unpacking the dinner when my cellphone rings again. I reach for it, and Cupid’s name flashes.

I disconnect without a second thought and lean back with a sigh. I despise how much it affects me… that he’s with another woman when we’re not even official. I hate that it hurts more than anything, knowing he’s been with someone else.
