“This year is almost at an end, and it’s in our best interest to ensure all our supporters, from the most privileged to the least, are greeted with a joyful holiday season. As per the Godlike tradition, we will be donating a substantial sum enough to truly make a difference for those in need.”

Yenda Godlike’s speech was polished, confident. I clapped along with the crowd, and he smiled, nodding in gracious thanks.

Ares Bani took the podium next, flashing his practiced, charismatic smile as he adjusted the microphone.

“Thank you all so much for being here tonight. It’s truly heartwarming. We especially appreciate the presence of Priest Johan. As for this year’s charity coordinators, representing the collaboration between Godlike Legal Empire and F.A.A.R., Cupid Godlike for the werewolves, and for the humans… Snow.”

Applause rippled through the hall. I rose smoothly from my seat and headed toward the stage.

The night had deepened; the red carpet frenzy was over. Now came the formal announcements and speeches for the public and press.

Reporters lingered, ready to capture every soundbite before leaving. I was here to represent and, if I was honest, to needle Cupid a little.

Yesterday had felt like a blade hovering at my throat, suspended, waiting to fall.

Viviana had been babbling about working with Cupid. It stung. So tonight, I’d decided to give him a taste of his own medicine.

I’d gone to the salon without asking permission. New hairstyle, full glamour and I planned to flirt shamelessly with anyone who approached.

I plastered on my brightest smile and ascended the steps. Ares hurried forward, extending a hand to help me up, but I ignored it, navigating the heels with ease. I was used to them.

“Thank you all for coming tonight,” I began, smile radiant under the lights. “I’m Snowflakes, representing the humans. I’ll ensure every donation reaches those who need it most. The same goes for the werewolf side. Thank you.”

Applause echoed again. I flashed one last grin at the cameras before stepping down.

The event unfolded smoothly. I noticed Priest Johan preparing to leave and hurried over. He smiled warmly, taking my offered hand.

“Miss…”

“Just Snow, please,” I corrected with a gentle laugh. “You’re heading back to the parish already?”

“Yes. It can’t be left unattended too long. You’ll be coming tomorrow, won’t you?”

“Of course,” I nodded. “With my partner, no doubt.”

“That means you’ll stay for Thanksgiving night.”

I laughed lightly, perhaps more than necessary because I could feel a burning stare from the side of my face. Him. Cupid.

“Of course. Thank you.”

I exchanged goodbyes with Priest Johan and watched him depart. Reporters were wrapping up too. Soon we’d be called into the private meeting to review the detailed manuals, budgets, donation destinations, everything official.

“Miss.” A professionally dressed server offered a tray of drinks. I smiled, glanced at one, then asked,

“The ladies’ room?”

“Down the hall to your left, ma’am.”

I thanked him, returned the untouched glass, and headed that way, aware of eyes following

The hall was pristine, elegant. I almost missed the balcony overlooking the glittering city, but its beauty drew me in like a magnet.

I stepped out, letting the cool night wind swirl around me. I swallowed hard, trying to find calm but instead of peace, anger spread hot through my chest.

The harder I tried to relax, the more it evaded me. I made to head back inside when the air shifted suddenly, heavy, charged.

I froze. Someone was behind me.

How had I not heard his approach?

“You didn’t tell me priests were your type now,” he said from the shadows, voice low.

I straightened, chin lifting defiantly.

“He’s a fine man. Hard not to admire.”

A low growl rumbled from him at the taunt. I went rigid as he stepped closer, emerging fully into the moonlight.

My gods, despite my anger, I couldn’t deny it. He was devastating. The suit clung perfectly; those green eyes pinned me in place.

“I told you not to change anything about yourself without my permission,” he said quietly, anger threading beneath the calm.

I’d gone to the salon deliberately, to get under his skin.

“Yes, well, I thought about telling you,” I shot back, “but decided not to disturb you. You seemed busy, laughing with my sister, planning advert shoots together.”

“Laughing with your sister?” He sounded genuinely baffled.

“Don’t play surprised.” I blew out a shaky breath, smoothing my dress. “I should go. We can’t be seen together.”

I turned to leave or tried to. His fingers circled my wrist in an iron grip, pulling me back until my spine met the balcony railing. He caged me there, body close, blocking any escape.

Silence stretched, thick and electric. His gaze searched mine, and every guarded wall I’d built began to crumble under the intensity.

Before I could protest, his lips hovered over mine, breath warm.

“I missed you,” he murmured, voice tender now.

He leaned in to close the distance but I turned my head at the last second, heart pounding wildly.

We had to clear the air first.

As desperately as my body craved his, I needed to know exactly where I stood in his life.
