I fluttered my eyelids open to find him there. Cupid Godlike, seated beside me, his intense gaze fixed on my face.
I looked away shyly, cheeks warming. I had slept deeply, completely out… but wait… why was the car parked?
Slowly, I sat up and stared ahead. A cold chill raced down my spine.
It was evening already. We were parked just outside the parish gates.
I turned to Cupid in wide–eyed awe.
“Why are we arriving so late? Why didn’t you wake me? Why are we still parked outside?”
“Because you were sleeping,” he murmured easily, as if it were the most natural thing in the world. He reached over gently, tucking a loose strand of hair behind my ear. “They know we’re here. They agreed to wait until you woke up.”
“Cupid…” I protested weakly, but the words faltered under the weight of his gaze. I couldn’t wrap my mind around him.
I swallowed, glancing ahead at the parish grounds where preparations were clearly underway.
I turned back to him, struck again by how little he seemed to treat this role seriously. Why was he even representing the werewolves as coordinator? He acted like none of it mattered.
“Your mental health is more important to me,” he said softly, as if he’d read my exact thoughts. “Your emotional well–being is worth far more.”
My cheeks burned under his steady gaze. I lowered my eyes, overwhelmed by a rush of emotions. He was restoring something I’d thought lost forever. Perhaps, after everything, I truly mattered to someone.
“Let’s get inside,” I murmured at last, still avoiding his eyes. “We’re late.”
He nodded.
Cupid finally eased the car forward into the parish grounds. I looked around, welcoming the serene, holy feeling that clung to the air. I sighed softly, letting the presence of the place settle over me like a calming blanket.

We alighted, and he opened the backseat door to retrieve my luggage. I took my bag from him just as three nuns approached, their faces lit with the brightest, most genuine smiles. I turned and bowed respectfully; one flashed me a warm grin in return.
“You are here, Mrs…”
“Snow, please,” I corrected the nun who had spoken. She smiled politely.
“Sister Snow,” she said instead. “Priest Johan and everyone have been waiting for you… both of you.”
Her eyes flickered briefly to Cupid standing behind me, and I smiled softly.
“Thank you. Priest Johan and all of you must be annoyed that we arrived so late.”
“You arrived early,” she replied, glancing at Cupid again before turning back to me with a kind smile. “It’s just that Mr. Cupid believed it better not to disturb your sleep. I am Sister Rosey. This is Sister Purity on my right, and Sister Lucia on my left. We welcome you to our parish. The event is already starting in the main hall. Please, follow me.”
I nodded with delight, smiling.
“Of course.”
Sister Rosey nodded in return. Her eyes flicked to Cupid once more, wary, perhaps before she led the way toward the hall where the donation ceremony would take place.

“Thank you so much for your time. We appreciate it and Happy Thanksgiving.”
“Please don’t mention it. The same to you,” I smiled back, stepping aside to watch the reporters gather their equipment and leave.
I stood in the open courtyard, already worn out from the day’s efforts, the sky fully dark now. I heaved a sigh of utter exhaustion.
“Sister Snow?” Sister Rosey’s gentle voice came from behind. I turned to see her with the other two nuns she was often with.
I smiled politely, and she returned it warmly.
“You must be tired. Let us show you to your room.”
I nodded gratefully and followed her into one of the buildings, down a quiet hall. As we

I didn’t truly know Alpha Ruis, but donating such an enormous sum to those who needed it most was one of the kindest acts imaginable. One that could wash away countless sins.
I smiled faintly, thinking of Cupid sitting silently through it all, speaking only when directly addressed. He was terrible at playing charity coordinator.
“Here you go,” Sister Rosey said, opening the door to a modest one–bedroom apartment. I stepped inside, immediately feeling the cozy warmth. “We’re sorry if…”
“Don’t you
dare apologize,” I interrupted appreciatively. “It’s more than okay.”
She smiled, relieved.
“There’s a dress in the wardrobe. We’ll come for you tomorrow morning.”
I swallowed, daring to ask.
“Um… about my partner who was…”
“Mr. Cupid?” I nodded, though I wished I could tell her he preferred just his name, no “Mr.”
“He has retired to the men’s quarters. He’ll be fine. Don’t worry about him. Good night and thank you for tonight.”
“Thank you too. Good night.”
She nodded, and I closed the door, waiting until their footsteps faded down the hall. Only then did I let out a shaky sigh of relief.
I moved farther in, eyes landing on the comfy bed. The room was small but warm and impeccably tidy.
There is a small kitchen by my left.
My bag had already been brought in and placed safely to the side.
Tiredly, I headed to the bathroom, flicking on the light. With a relieved exhale, I stepped inside to shower, utterly spent.
I undressed and let the warm water cascade over me, washing away the day’s weight. When I finished, I wrapped myself in a towel and returned to the bedroom, only to slow at the cool breeze drifting in.

My thoughts halted as the air shifted. Powerful, calming, yet undeniably claiming. I turned slowly, a cold thrill racing down my spine.
He stood there, back against the wall, arms folded across his chest, hair still damp from his own shower.
He watched me as if he hadn’t just slipped silently into my room, in a place I’d thought impossible to breach.
Reality struck like lightning. Cupid had promised to make love to me today.
Perhaps now.
He closed the distance as if reading my exact thought, lips capturing mine in a kiss that matched and surpassed every hungry ache I’d carried.
