Claimed By The Mafia Rogue King (Snow and Cupid) novel Chapter 194

Cupid

It was unreal, surreal that I was here, in the same room as the Frosts, a family renowned for upholding the law, when in fact I had just committed three murders mere hours ago.

And whenever I stood in a place of power, I could recognize it. In the midst of these people, there was something too immense, too profound, despite the fact that they were humans.

I sat there, cleaned of the bloodshed, but with a heart stuttering in worry for this beautiful lady before me. Her eyes, her soft voice, her very presence stirred far too much in my heart, and I gulped down the thick bile rising in my throat.

Gently, I pulled back to allow the nurses to prepare wheeling her out. I gave her a small, encouraging smile so she would know no matter what, even if I was here or not, I would always carry her in my heart.

“You be brave,” one of her brothers, the twin who seemed closest to her said softly before kissing her temple. “It will be over before you know it.”

I watched that gesture intently.

At last, the doctor straightened and looked at me. I recognized her immediately as the Luna of the Castle Pack. I bowed in respect, and she nodded.

“I never knew you’d come,” she said with a small smile before turning to Snow’s father, who nodded in agreement.

The nurses in the ward began wheeling Snow out. I watched her disappear through the door, her scent fading down the hall until nothing remained and suddenly it felt strange that a man like me was among these people.

From my side, I could feel the intense gaze from the eldest brother, while behind me came another penetrating stare.

“It’s unfortunate what’s happening with Snow,” Viviana’s voice broke the air as she walked over and placed a palm on my hand. “I pray she’s fine.”

Even with that look on her face, the aura around her screamed she was lying through her teeth. I slowly stepped back to break the physical contact.

“I’ll be in the hall,” I murmured quietly before heading out into the truly lonely private corridor.

There, I lowered myself onto the waiting bench and breathed out shakily. If only I could smoke here.

The first impression had been made, as usual, Gafi had done a wonderful job. He’d dumped one of the corpses just a block from H.O.W.L., and Madam Shara would soon be causing a ruckus.

That way, instead of the world focusing on Marlik as a criminal, attention would shift to Feroz. Mr. Lin’s case needed to be unearthed so Feroz’s identity would be exposed in the open.

That meant the Godlike illegal empire wouldn’t have to get its hands too dirty. H.O.W.L. staff would apprehend him before he reached me.

I lost track of time, but I was sure I had been seated for over an hour. Time seemed to crawl.

“I’m sorry. I don’t know how else to say this, but something has accelerated the shrinking and it’s dangerous now. Her brain is deteriorating rapidly. If care isn’t taken immediately, she’ll gradually lose chunks of memory until… she might not remember anything anymore.”

“What can be done? She’s been doing fine lately. What must have happened?”

“Some pills and Her environment,” the doctor replied matter-of-factly. “We both just witnessed the heated argument between her and Viviana. You saw the look in Snow’s eyes. I’ve known Snowflakes since the moment she was born here, Grant, but I’ve never seen her stare with such disdain. She practically hates Viviana, and I don’t know why. But what I do know is that both of them cannot live under the same roof. If you love Snow as your daughter, you have two options. Sign the papers for her womb surgery so she can heal, or wait for the medical timeline until she finds her mate and heals naturally. If you choose the latter, ensure she has a peaceful environment. Love and peace. That’s all she needs. Not pain, not arguments, and certainly not hatred or bloodshed. She has survived enough. You know that.”

The words of warning sank deep into my mind, sending goosebumps racing across my skin.

Pain, bloodshed, and anything like it should be kept far from Snow? She hates her sister?

I lowered my gaze to my glowing cellphone screen. A text from Desmond.

Madam Shara will begin her move now and My aunty has arrived. Uncle wants you to come for dinner.

Reading it, I swallowed hard. His aunt, my father’s wife, Luna Sash.

I sighed, rising from the waiting bench to head out.
