The sound of hurried footsteps echoed down the sterile hospital hallway, sharp and urgent. I stood at once as Eshan appeared around the corner, his tall frame filling the space.
He froze the instant he saw me, eyes widening, jaw tightening in that familiar mix of fury and fear.
In the blink of an eye, he closed the distance, expression thunderous.
“You’re off this case,” he snapped, voice low and edged with barely restrained anger. “Why the bell are you still sniffing around? Does your health mean nothing to you?!”
I didn’t flinch. I knew my brothers, their harsh edges, their protective rage.
It was why I still carried the Frost name, why I hadn’t run from it. Eshan had always been the
storm.
Fierce, unyielding, and fiercely devoted. I swallowed the ache in my throat and simply stepped forward, wrapping my arms around him.
Even a man as angry as him melted. His breath hitched, ragged and shaky, before his arms came around me tight, tender, almost desperate
“My goddess, I was so worried when I got the call,” he whispered against my hair, voice cracking. “So damn worried.”
He pulled back just enough to search my face, hands framing my cheeks.
“Are you okay? No scratches? No bruises? Did anyone hurt you?”
He didn’t give me room to answer, words tumbling out in frantic succession. I couldn’t help.
“The analysis so far points here, Eshan. Doctor Catina, you remember her?”
He frowned, eyes darkening.
“The crazy bitch who overdosed you with those pills to shrink your womb?”
I nodded once.”
“We were wrong not to sue her immediately. We could have saved lives. She’s behind Kim Krates‘ breakdown. We need to protect him. He knows something about his father’s death.

Mr. Lins was on the phone with him the night he was killed.”

Eshan’s frown deepened. He took my hand more gently, thumb brushing over my knuckles as he whispered in stunned realization.
“Are you telling me even Ares Bani is involved? He’s the one who ordered Catina to drug you in the first place.”
I exhaled shakily, the truth too heavy to deny anymore.
“Yes,” But then I shook my head, exhaustion creeping in. “I’m not sure it’ll be enough to bring down Feroz. Kim’s testimony will be dismissed as the ravings of a madman in court.”
Eshan nodded grimly just as the doctor entered the hallway, clipboard in hand.
“You’re here, sir,” the doctor said to Eshan. “We need you to fill out some documents. Kim Krates is in critical condition. I understand he’s tied to the H.O.W.L. case?”
Eshan glanced at me, then back to the doctor, expression unreadable. The doctor shook his head slowly.
“He won’t be any help to you as a witness. I’ll register him solely as a patient, no court involvement. We’ll take care of him. You should stay to sign off as guardian while we proceed.”
Eshan looked at me one final time, throat working as he swallowed. Then he nodded and followed the doctor to the desk, leaving me alone in the quiet corridor.
Midnight had passed. The Mr. Lins case was officially closed, or would be by morning.
Kim Krates, the one person who might have heard the truth, was now unreachable behind walls of insanity and institutional protection.
If I wanted justice, I’d have to reopen the darkest chapter of my own life. The dark alley case, The knife. The hour that had shattered me.
I wasn’t sure I could survive that again.
Slowly, I turned toward the exit, stepping out into the open night. Snow fell in soft, relentless sheets, blanketing the lonely street beyond the hospital.
The cold bit deep, but it was nothing compared to the ache in my chest, the knowledge that Viviana, Ares, Feroz they were all within reach yet fate kept twisting the threads just out of
my grasp.
I blinked hard, forcing back the tears until I realized I wasn’t alone.

The energy hit me like warmth against the winter. Love, care, steady and unshakable. Even without turning, I knew.
Cupid Godlike.
I heard his boots crunch over snow as he closed the distance, breath coming fast. He must have raced here at supernatural speed.
When he finally stood before me, something had changed in his eyes. Deeper, darker, raw with a pain I hadn’t seen before.
“What’s wrong?” I asked softly, reaching to cup his cheek against the cold.
His next words froze me solid.
“You should tell your family.”
A chill raced down my spine. I blinked, trying to convince myself I’d misheard.
“What?”
“Tell them. Tell the Frosts. Tell the world what she did to you. What he did to you.”
Goosebumps erupted across my skin. I looked away quickly, hiding the sudden sting of tears.
“It’s cold,” I whispered. “Let’s go.”
I tried to step past him, but his voice followed quiet, resolute.
