I woke up that morning alone in bed, and the space beside me looked too neat to believe she had ever spent the night in my arms.

I got off the bed with a small frown tugging at my mouth. I opened the door and stepped out to the balcony. She was downstairs in the dining area, pouring a cup of tea for herself and one for

She is always like that, treating the maid kindly, gently, like a human being and not a servant.

I stood there watching her, quietly realizing she is beautiful after all. Especially without makeup. Her early morning face, soft, calm, glowing.

She turned around and when her eyes found me, she smiled.

Innocently. Enough to twist something in my stomach.

Maybe she had slept beside me after all. She looked too happy for someone who didn’t.

“Good morning,” she said, smiling at me.

I found myself smiling back as I walked downstairs to her.

“Good morning. You weren’t beside me when I woke up.”

“I get up early.” She was smiling too happily for what I was used to. “It’s such a beautiful day, and Thanksgiving is approaching. I’m thinking of meeting with Cupid soon to fix our schedules for the charity event.”

Normally, I would have been fuming at the mention of Cupid Godlike.

But she was staring at me like I was the man in her universe, and somehow that eased the jealousy away.

I leaned in, kissing her forehead softly. She didn’t pull back, which thrilled me even more.

I leaned in again, brushing a light kiss on her lips before turning away. I went upstairs, entered the bathroom, took my bath, brushed my teeth, and minutes later I was dressed in a suit with my hair neatly combed. I took my keys and headed downstairs.

Snow and Ana were laughing in the kitchen.

Her laughter gentle, warm, made me pause.

Somehow, it would have been great to be this happy.

Just as that thought hit me, my cellphone beeped. I glanced at the screen. It was a text from Viviana. And just like that, the thought of Snow vanished from my mind.

Effortlessly. Completely.

I didn’t even remember to say goodbye. I just walked straight to my car and drove to the

company.

I stepped out quickly and entered the building, heading for my office, only to stop dead at the security desk.

Lencia.

She stood up the moment she saw me, but I ignored her. Viviana said I should call her, that she needed to tell me something important. I didn’t care about anything else but Viviana. I was aiming for my office when Lencia’s voice stopped me.

“There is a notice from the courthouse. It was delivered from Frost Law Firm. Here it is.”

Frost Law Firm?

I turned around, took the document from her hand, and opened it.

An already filed divorce paper.

Filed. Sent. Notice for me to appear in court.

I stormed toward Kashi Frost’s office, my vision hot with rage. I should have known she wouldn’t stop. I should have known all that sweetness and innocence from Snow was a lie.

She had already filed for divorce and with a single yes from me, it would be finalized.

I reached Kashi’s office and knocked hard, ignoring the secretary sitting ahead. When the man saw I wasn’t following procedures, he stood up too quickly.

“Sir, you can’t be barging on the door like…”

He didn’t get to finish. The door opened.

Kashi Frost stood there. Glorious. Untouchable.

Exactly as much of a threat as his brother Eshan.

Kashi never loses a case. His streak has made him the most feared lawyer in both the human region and the werewolf territory.

He looked at me with expressionless eyes. As if he already knew I would come.

I held up the divorce notice and glared at him.

“I am not divorcing my wife. Withdraw the court notice. I won’t let her go. Let’s not waste each other’s time.”

He didn’t move. Didn’t speak. Not until a small scoff escaped him, mocking, cutting. Then he laughed. Dry. Sharp. Cruel.

“Your wife…” he said between that humorless laughter. Then suddenly he glared, the smile vanishing instantly. “No one gave you a wife, Mr. Bani. I don’t remember my father agreeing for you to take her. Stay your fucking ass away from my sister and meet me in court if you’re man enough.”

The challenge dug straight into my bones.

Before I could retaliate, one of his assistants rushed in.

“Sir, you need to come clarify some documents. It’s about your client, Cherry Billion.”

Kashi let the words hang in the air. He stared at me one last time, pure disdain, before turning

away.

“Get the security guards to remove this man from here,” he told his secretary. Then he walked off with his assistant, leaving me there, my jaw set.

I turned toward the exit, rage boiling through my veins. But I stopped short when I saw the large television mounted in the lobby.

Mirena Daylight, Kashi’s girlfriend was reporting live.

The headline was bold.

She was talking about the investigation into Mr. Hanba’s death. Detectives searching for evidence. For suspects.

Her voice faded from my hearing as I turned away and walked out to my car.

Then I paused.

Suspects.

Wait.

Kashi is Cherry Billions‘ lawyer.

A slow smile tugged at my lips.
