Chapter 334
Snowflakes
The sheets tangled around our bare legs like silk ropes, warm and heavy from hours of shared heat.
I drifted up from the deepest sleep I’d had in weeks, blinking slowly into the soft amber glow of the bedside lamp.
Cupid lay facing me, close enough that our breaths mingled, his green eyes already open, already watching
He hadn’t slept. Not even for a minute after we’d collapsed together, bodies spent and hearts still racing.

His dark hair stood in wild disarray, strands falling across his forehead, and in the low light his features looked carved from something ancient and golden.
Sharp jaw, high cheekbones, the faint scar along his left brow that only appeared when he smiled like this, soft and unguarded.
“You didn’t sleep?” I whispered, voice thick with lingering drowsiness.
He blinked once, slowly, those emerald eyes softening until they felt like summer fields instead of storm clouds.
“I can’t.” His voice was low, rough. “You’re too beautiful.”
My heart swelled so fast it hurt. Heat flooded my cheeks; I felt the blush bloom like wildfire.
Cupid had always known exactly how to unravel me with a handful of words, how to make the rest of the world shrink until there was only him and me and this quiet, sacred space between our bodies.
Silence wrapped around us, comfortable and heavy. I lifted my palm to his chest, pressing it over the steady, powerful thud of his heart. The rhythm answered mine. Strong, real, alive. He was here. Solid. Mine.
“Death sentence,” I said softly, the words slipping out like they’d been waiting. “That’s what he gets. Him and the men.”
He didn’t flinch. Didn’t look away. Just watched me with that tender, patient gaze that saw straight through every wall I’d ever tried to build.
“I thought… I thought I’d feel something else once it was over,” I continued, voice cracking just a little. “Relief. Joy. Rage. Anything. But there’s nothing. Just… empty.”
Cupid searched my face for a long moment, thumb brushing idly along my hip beneath the sheet.
“Maybe because he never showed remorse,” he said quietly. “Not once. Not even in that courtroom when the whole world was watching.”
I swallowed hard. He always knew. Without me saying it, without me spelling it out, he just knew.
“You and the Echo team did everything humanly possible,” he went on, voice steady as stone. “You investigated. Work tirelessly and You won. He’s sentenced. In a month he’ll be gone, truly gone. We should focus on what comes after. On something else.”
My fingers drifted up to trace the sharp line of his jaw, thumb grazing the edge of his lips. I loved the feel of him, warm skin, faint stubble, the quiet power coiled beneath every inch.
“Something else like?” I asked, almost afraid of the answer.

He held my gaze.
“Maybe go for a check–up. See how your womb is healing.”
My breath caught. I went still.
“After that…” he continued softly, eyes never leaving mine, “…we can start thinking about other things. Our future.”
I couldn’t blink. Couldn’t breathe. If I moved even a fraction, I might shatter the moment,
“W…what future?” The words stuttered out, small and trembling.
In one smooth motion he sat up, drawing me with him. Strong hands guided me until I straddled his lap, sheets pooling around us.
His palms settled warm and sure on my hips, holding me close but not trapping me. The shift was effortless, gentle, reverent, powerful.
He held my gaze for a heartbeat longer, letting the silence stretch until it felt holy.
“Future like… marriage.”
The word landed like thunder wrapped in velvet. I stiffened in his arms.
“I’ve never really thought about pups,” he said quietly, “or a normal home, wife, children, quiet nights. But lately… it’s all I think about. A house somewhere peaceful. Raising them together. I don’t care how many you want… It’s your body, your choice. I’ll respect whatever you decide. I just…” His voice dropped, raw. “I want you more. As my wife. I want you for myself. Only mine.”
My heart shuddered inside my chest, joy and terror crashing together so violently I could barely breathe.
I stared at him, telling myself this was a dream, a hallucination born of too much hope and not enough sleep. But he was real. Solid beneath me. Eyes steady. Waiting.
I dropped my gaze, sudden fear curling cold in my stomach.
After the first marriage, the one that had left scars deeper than skin, I’d sworn I’d never rush again. Never let myself be swept up so fast it hurt when it ended.
“I… I’ll go for the check–up soon,” I managed, voice small. “But… Cupid, can we hold off on anything marriage? Just for now?”
He searched my face. No anger, no disappointment, only quiet understanding. Slowly he leaned in, pressed a tender kiss to my temple.
“Sure,” he murmured against my skin. “I’ll wait.”
Then his mouth found mine softly, slow, full of promise. He pulled me into his chest, arms wrapping around me like shelter.
I melted against him, cheek to his heartbeat, feeling for the first time in forever safe. Whole. Loved.
“Should I make dinner now?” I whispered into the curve of his neck.
His hand rubbed slow circles along my spine.
“No.”

I pulled back just enough to frown at him.
“I thought you were staying the night.”

He laughed, soft, low, carefree in a way that made my heart hook sideways, God, he was beautiful when he let the mask slip.
“Yes. I am.”
“So why no dinner?”
“Just… gotta maintain the body.” A wry tilt to his lips. “My elder sister Catherine became ny manager overnight and she’s been strict. No unnecessary weight. I’m shooting the new campaign soon. Already signed the contract, strict clauses. Can’t breach it
My stomach sank a little.
“Really? You’ll be that busy now?”
He nodded slowly.
“I’ll keep in touch. Every day. I can’t guaranteed when the campaign will end since the new women’s skincare line just get finalized.”
I frowned deeper.
