I stood at the window of the Profiling department, gazing down at the chaos unfolding below. The van carrying Ares had just pulled in.
Reporters swarmed like vultures, already positioned to cover the arrest. Claudia Feed, the sweet, relentless gossip newscaster stood front and center with her microphone, broadcasting live as the cameras flashed relentlessly.
wasn’t supposed to be here. I’d only come to see Tally V’s sister off after she was officially cleared as nothing more than another victim of Feroz’s cruelty. A quiet goodbye, nothing more.
When the van doors finally opened, camera flashes erupted in a blinding storm and converged on the entrance.
Claudia stepped forward eagerly, ready to provoke Ares, to bait him into saying something explosive for the evening news.
But it wasn’t words that came first.
t was blood.
A harsh, wet cough echoed from inside the van, bright red splattering the concrete. My breath caught, frozen in my chest. The nurmurs, the shouts, the clicking shutters everything fell instantly silent.
slowly, every eye in the crowd watched as Ares was helped out. His face was a ruin, bruised, swollen, blood streaking across his cheeks and dripping from his split lip.
One eye was swollen completely shut. He limped heavily, each step unsteady, until his legs gave out entirely. He crumpled to the ground like a broken thing.
Medical staff rushed forward. Someone shouted for an ambulance.
‘What happened? What… Ares?!” His mother, Mrs. Bani pushed through the crowd, voice cracking with panic. She dropped to her (nees beside him, hands hovering helplessly over his battered form.
‘Ares? Please, someone call for help. Anyone. Please.”
She was terrified. Despite everything she must have known about her son’s darkness, she still clung to him, desperate to protect what was left.
Just like my own mother had once clung to Feroz, refusing to see the monster beneath the surface. And me? I’d had no one to cling
to at all.
A broken sob tore from her throat. The cameras never stopped flashing
I stood motionless at the window, watching it all unfold until I felt the weight of eyes on me.
I looked down.
Ares.
Even through the haze of pain and blood, his one good eye had found me. Cameras were everywhere, capturing every second. H lips moved slow, deliberate but the words were too faint for human ears.

Chapter 349
My werewolf hearing sharpened instinctively, picking them up like a whisper carried on the wind.
“It’s… it’s Cupid. Don’t trust him, Snow. He is… dan…gerous.”
The message landed like ice in my veins.
Then the ambulance siren wailed closer. Paramedics swarmed, lifting Ares onto a stretcher. The doors slammed shut.
The vehicle peeled away, lights flashing, leaving nothing but stunned silence and the echo of his warning in my head.

I must have stood there for an eternity, frozen, replaying those bloodied words until Tally V’s gentle voice pulled me back.
“Miss Snow?”
I turned. She stood there, eyes bright with gratitude, a soft smile on her face.
“I’ve called the taxi. My sister’s already in the car. She can’t stop thanking you, Miss Snow. We all are. Truly grateful for everything you’ve done.”
Her energy radiated sincerity, warm, earnest, almost overwhelming. She rubbed her hands together nervously, as if afraid to ask the next question.
“I know you’re going through a lot right now, and I’m sorry I can’t help more… but maybe a hug would do a little good?” Her gaze searched mine. When I stayed quiet, her smile faltered, turning uneasy. “Maybe not. You’re the daughter of an Alpha. A billionaire’s daughter. A hug probably won’t mean much.”
I didn’t answer with words.
Instead, I closed the distance and wrapped my arms around her tenderly, briefly. My heart squeezed painfully in my chest for just a second. She hugged me back, fierce and thankful, then pulled away with shining eyes.
