I left the hospitalwithout a single word to anyone, the sterile corridors blurring behind me as I slipped away like a shadow.

I had imagined my first arrival at the Godlike pack would be grand, perhaps announced, perhaps welcomed but reality stripped that fantasy bare.

Dressed in nothing more than a simple gown beneath a light jacket and sneakers, I drove through the towering gates, flagged down mmediately by the sentries at the entrance.

‘I’m here to see Alpha Ruis, please,” I said to the guard, keeping my voice level despite the tremor beneath it.

He stared at me for a long beat, recognition flickering in his eyes, then shook his head slowly.

‘Alpha Ruis isn’t receiving any guests tonight.”

The words barely registered before I was out of the car, door slamming behind me.

From the corner of my eye, I caught the first cluster of reporters already gathering beyond the perimeter fence, cameras hoisted, enses trained like weapons.

Pack members had begun to pause in their evening routines, heads turning, whispers spreading like wildfire. The air thrummed with curiosity and judgment.

I stood there, antsy, arms folded tight across my chest, every second stretching into eternity.

Where had the fracture begun? How had everything unraveled so catastrophically in so few hours?

The guard returned, nodding once. I didn’t wait for more. I strode through the gates, past the manicured lawns and towering architecture that should have taken my breath away with their magnificence.

Tonight, none of it mattered. All I wanted, needed, were answers.

How could Cupid be arrested? How could anyone accuse him of something so vite?

I needed to tell Alpha Ruis the truth. That Cupid had been with me the entire day after the chaos with his rogue family.

Alpha Ruis sat behind the massive desk in his study, face shadowed, a palpable melancholy radiating from him like smoke.

I stepped inside, dipped into a respectful bow, and murmured my gratitude for granting me audience.

“It… it wasn’t Cupid who did it, Alpha Ruis,” I began, voice soft but steady, unsure exactly where to start. “He was with me all day after what happened to his rogue family. Cupid has always spoken of Almira with such care. He would never touch her in that way, never.”

Silence answered me. His gaze remained fixed on the papers scattered across the desk. Then, slowly, he lifted his eyes to mine and gave a single, almost imperceptible nod.

My heart stuttered, then stopped.

“Then why are you just sitting here?” The words burst out sharper than I intended. I took another step forward. “Cupid is being branded a sexual predator on every channel. The voice came from behind me, calm, measured, final.

“That is the plan,” she repeated, enunciating each syllable as though speaking to a child. “He raped Almira.”

“That’s not true!” The denial tore from my throat, raw and furious. “How can you even say that word in the same breath as his name? Rape? Cupid?”

I whirled back to Alpha Ruis, trembling from head to toe.

“You know how his biological mother died. You know my past, the things we share. The violation we both survived. Cupid would never stoop to that. Almira is the sister he cherishes above everything. He’s being framed. You know it so why are you doing nothing? Why?”

“You shouldn’t question an Alpha, young lady,” Beta Sky said from the window, voice dripping with contempt. “Grant told me he raised you well, but I suppose Mooncrest blood always shows No regard for hierarchy No respect.”

I blinked at the barb, then turned back to Alpha Ruis. His attention had drifted to a small stack of documents, cruise tickets. The dates stared up at me. Departure in a day. A family vacation Him. His other children. Without Cupid.
