“We can’t sleep on a case for a long time. If you can’t do your job, then let the energetic staff take over,” Mr. Sonny said to Wrinks. I swallowed at that and spoke.
“Sir, Quince and I went in search of Brown Fash. He was reported to have a daughter hospitalized at a local hospital a block away. The receptionist said he has disappeared into thin air. He couldn’t be traced.”
A low groan escaped the deputy director as the investigation slowly hit a rock bottom.
“If we can’t find Brown Fash and get his statement, things will turn ugly. The case can’t be stretched any further. Many cases await.”
“If we could have more time, like…” I was pleading when the Director spoke, his voice quiet.
“We can’t stretch a case that long. You are a Frost, Snow. You know the law.”
My heart sank. Yes. I knew the law more than anything. Even the extra twenty–four hours we got was because Mirena went down on her knees to beg.
Now we were at a loss on how to find Brown Fash, who seemed to have vanished completely.
As the thoughts ran wild, fear crept in.
What if we didn’t find Brown Fash or any new lead?
Kashi would be detained and the trial would stretch until his name rotted… and our family name along with it.
“So you didn’t carry out your job properly and you arrested my man just like that? On what grounds?” Mirena, who had been too quiet, muttered acidly to Wrinks, who kept silent in guilt. “Do you have any idea what this has caused me? Caused us? Can you pay for the damage?”
“Miss Mirena, I…” Mr. Gerald began, but Mirena shot him a cold, burning glare.
“You are the worst of them all. Your job is to predict criminals‘ next moves and fish them out, but all is hate on someone and…”
“Mirey.” Roc’s voice came quietly, forcing her to swallow the rest of her words. She bit her lower lip helplessly.
Silence folded over us for a heartbeat until footsteps approached.
“My gods. That’s Pinky Pie.” I heard the gasp.
you do
Turning, I saw Pinky, Eshan’s girlfriend, standing just outside the hall. When Eshan noticed her, he excused himself and opened the door slightly.
“Hey. I was told you’re here…” Pinky greeted softly, but her voice faded when she scanned the room. She stepped back. “I didn’t know you’re in an official meeting. I’m sorry. I should…”
She spoke again but stopped abruptly, her eyes fixed on the image of Brown Fash on the screen. Slowly, she stepped back into the doorway.

“That’s Angelic’s father.”
A chill ran through me instantly. Everyone stiffened.
“You… you know this man?” Eshan asked, and Pinky nodded.

“Angelic is his daughter. They came to my fan meeting once. She’s such a bright girl, though she looked a bit sick. She’s my die–hard fan. She came with her father then. This is him.”
My heart leapt to my throat. Before I could speak, the Director addressed her.
“Pinky, come in.”
She paused, but when Eshan nodded, she walked in elegantly. She was different. An actress, incomparable. She bowed before the Director, who repeated the question.
“You know Brown Fash?”
“Yes. I’ve seen him once. Our interaction was memorable. I remember him vividly. His daughter was bright.”
“That means you can help us locate him,” I murmured thoughtfully, drawing everyone’s attention.
“The fact that she knows him doesn’t mean she can help, Snow,” Mr. Gerald said sharply, as though he had had enough of me. “Miss Pinky is an actress, not a staff member of H.O.W.L.”
“But she is a celebrity whose influence can fish out Brown Fash wherever he is,” I said calmly, fully certain. “If we can’t find Brown Fash, then he will come find us.
The deputy director nodded, seeing the logic.
“You have a plan?”
Swallowing hard, I looked up at Pinky.
“We’ll be making a fan meeting.
“What?!” Wrinks burst out. “That is insane.”
“Fan meetings take months to organize, Snow,” Pinky added. “It takes time for the announcement to reach all fans.”
I turned to Mirena Daylight.
“Not when we have the Daylight newscaster. We can broadcast the fan meeting through multiple channels. Every nook and cranny of both the human region and Werewolf territory will hear about it. At the meeting, the detectives can surround the place. And if Angelic Fash truly loves you, Pinky, she’ll beg her father to bring her, especially if it’s free. They will show up. And the meeting should be cheap or free. That will make it easier. What do you think?”
“Snow is right,” Mirena said with a nod. “Buying the time slot and running extreme ads will get the news to everyone, especially when it’s free.”
Silence fell. It was overwhelming. Even a regular paid fan meeting would gather a crowd like the ocean, but
a free one…

Chapter 46
Among them, we only needed one man.
Would this plan work?
Would the directors approve it?
I was lost in thought when soft whispers reached me.

Mr. Sonny, the deputy director, whispered to Mr. Castle Sera’s father. After a moment, they both nodded.
“Let’s close this case tomorrow night. Tomorrow night, nothing more or less,” the Deputy Director announced. “We’ll go with your plan, Snow Frost.”
I swallowed hard, heaviness settling in my chest. The Director looked at me, smiling proudly.
“I knew you were meant for this job. I knew you were. Everyone, get to work. Those who didn’t perform properly should correct themselves.”
He nodded at Quince as well, and together, we began.
