Snowflakes
I went after him, only to stop abruptly in my tracks.

The call had been connected to his television, a video call, and the caller ID flashed “Dad.”
Cupid walked slowly to stand before the huge screen. He stared at it ringing for a moment before turning his head toward me. His eyes darkened with meaning.
Then he gestured to a spot behind the pillar. A blind spot. Even if I couldn’t see any cameras, I knew he knew every hidden angle of his home
Obediently, I moved to stand in that shadowed place. He looked at me for a second, something unreadable flickering in his gaze, then turned back to the TV and finally answered.
The Alpha came into view, and I swallowed hard
Alpha Ruis.
The wealthiest and most powerful Alpha of all. A man spoken about in whispers, in awe, in fear. I had seen him only on billboards, in papers, in pictures that never captured even half the dominance he radiated. But seeing him now seated on his leather couch, in what looked like a private study, made every story I’d ever heard feel painfully real.
A man of pure authority. A man who raised Cupid and Yenda. No wonder they were who they were today.
My gaze shifted to Cupid. The way he looked at his father… respect etched into every line of his face. Deep, unshakable respect.
“Son, there is a deal, and I want you to handle it. Alpha Ruis said, and Cupid nodded immediately, offering no question. “The Draven.”
Cupid’s brows pulled together in a slow frown, but he still nodded.
“I finished the paperwork last night. The shipment will arrive, and we pay in cash. That’s the deal.”
“Evalina told you she’s striking a partnership after the shipment arrives?” Cupid nodded again. The Alpha leaned back, fingertip dragging lazily over his lower lip. “She’s a sly woman. The shipment won’t be arriving.”
Cupid froze. Waiting. Listening.

The words hit the air, sharp and cold. My body went still, numbness crawling through me.
“She said she’ll deliver the shipment only if you come to her… and finish what the two of you started.”
“Dad…” Cupid’s voice was tight.
“And I told her you’ll be coming.” Alpha Ruis lifted a shoulder, unfazed. “She’s the Dravens‘ heiress. If she wants your body, let her have it. We get what we want, she gets what she wants. She has nice tits and all. You’ll be gaining more. Don’t you think?”
My shoulders sagged. My knees almost buckled.
Cupid didn’t deny it. Not one bit.
His jaw ticked, his shoulders tensed, but he didn’t tell his father it was a lie. He didn’t say he hadn’t touched her. He didn’t say he wasn’t sleeping with his business partner, nor did he say no to him.
And he dared to tell me he ignored my calls because he was “working.”
“Yes, Father,” he said.
Agreeing. Accepting. Letting the blade twist.
Alpha Ruis nodded once.
“You should come home in minutes. We will discuss your flight.”
Cupid nodded and The call ended.
The TV went dark but nothing in me returned to normal.
The silence that fell between us was suffocating, leafening, and I felt like a complete fool for believing, even for one breath, that I could ever be the only woman in Cupid Godlike’s life.

“Drop me here. I’ll take a taxi,” I said the momer he drove off the highway and into the busy
road.
He didn’t slow down.
“I’ll ride you home. No worries…”

Chapter 76
“I don’t want to go.” I cut in, tight and cold.
He glanced at me, and whatever he saw in my glare made him finally pull to the side.

Our eyes locked for a long, taut second before I reached for my bag and grabbed the door handle but with one press of a button, the door clicked locked again.
Frustration burned through me.
He was furious at me for mentioning Ares’s name and I was furious at him for going to another woman under the excuse of “work” and letting her show him her body.
“Let me out, Cupid. I have to go home,” I said, my voice trembling but he didn’t comply.
“I see you’re in a hurry to go meet him,” he said flatly.
I froze. Then turned, slowly, to stare at him.
Really?
“Eager to meet him? More like you’re eager to go meet a woman!” I snapped.
He stared at me like I’d lost
my mind.
“Oh please, spare me,” I hissed. “You told me you went to work. Was that why you didn’t answer my calls? So you wouldn’t be disturbed while you two were fucking?!”
He didn’t respond. He Just stared.
Like I was speaking madness but the moon goddess help me, maybe I was, because the thought of him with another woman burned deeper than my collapsing marriage ever had.
My chest tightened. My throat closed. Tears stung my eyes far too fast.
My shoulders sagged.
I grabbed the locked handle again.
“Please let me go,” I whispered, exhausted. I turned toward him, broken. “Let me go. I don’t matter to you anyway. Open the door.”
He didn’t speak, Didn’t argue.
He just looked at me, angry, yes, but also stunned that I cared so much about him being with someone else.
Then, quietly, he unlocked the door.

I pushed it open and paused as the lingering ache from what we’d done made my legs weak.
I braced myself, gathered what little strength I had, and stepped out.
I stood at the side of the road, raising a hand to flag a taxi. I expected him to drive off immediately but he didn’t.
He stayed there. Watching.
Only when a taxi stopped and I got inside. skirt adjusted, face forced into a weak, plastered smile, did I feel the car pull away, leaving him behind as I rode off.
