It was the sound of my cellphone ringing that woke me. Groaning softly, I reached for it, eyes still closed, swiping my finger across the screen to answer, waiting for a voice, only to hear a soft giggle that forced my eyelids to flutter open
And there she was, her face on my screen, laughing happily like a girl who had been blessed with priceless gifts.
I hadn’t even realized it was a video call until now. She looked thrilled to’see me, giggling and staring at me again and again.
“This is the first time I’m seeing your sleepy face Cupid. You look… so lovely,” she said, unable to help herself. I blinked, forcing my eyes to open wider, suppressing the dull heaviness of my werewolf side.
I tried to sit up, the sunlight filling the room and falling over my bare skin. She looked beautiful, bright, soft but her eyes held too much affection, more than I can afford to give.
“Cupid…” she murmured my name gently. I looked at her again before sighing. “I woke you up?”
I nodded, and she studied my face before speaking again.
“I shouldn’t have called. You look like you were having the best sleep of your life, right?”
To that, I shook my head.
“I’m only high as fuck,” I murmured honestly, and I watched her pause, her eyes fixing into mine. “Meth. Took a sniff last night. It’s the purest I’ve had in years. You mind?”
Silence dropped between us. I saw the reluctance in her eyes. Cigarettes she could tolerate, but drugs… not a chance. Knowing her upbringing, her values, I am the biggest walking red flag she will ever meet.
Ares Bani is shrewd but I am something else entirely.
“You don’t take it often, right?” she finally asked, searching my eyes, almost pleading for me to say no. Her voice low, tinged with sadness, disappointment. I nodded.
“Occasionally… when I’m frustrated,” I confessed and she blinked, tucking a wavy strand of hair behind her ear. She looked at me again before asking.
“Are you okay?”

I stayed silent but I nodded, letting her know my sincere feelings.
“Cupid…” she breathed, almost panicked.

“It’s not about you. It’s work. Overwhelming,” I murmured, and she sighed, biting her lower lip. “You look lovely today.”
Her face lit up, smiling at my compliment.
“You too. How is the place you arrived at yesterday? Is it an exclusive suite?” she asked, her eyes innocent, hopeful, searching mine.
I paused.
The last thing I ever want to do to Snowflakes is lie to her… or manipulate her. She has had enough of that, and I know she wouldn’t recover if it came from me.
“Lower the phone” I say instead.
She looks at me again, bites her lower lip, and obeys.
The screen dips. Her cleavage fills the frame. Full breasts pressed together by whatever thin top she’s wearing, only the soft upper curves exposed, but the plump swell alone is enough to make my cock throb painfully hard against my zipper.
My eyes lift back to her face. I smile.
Her cheeks are burning red and I already know exactly how soaked she is right now.
“When will you come back, Cupid?” she asked, voice small, fragile and I blinked.
Last night I made progress at the price of fingering Evalina.
I lowered my gaze, suddenly unable to hold Snowflake’s eyes with what I’d done.
“Where are you?” I asked instead, looking past her face to the background, and she smiled warmly.
“I’m at the hospital. My dad suggested I come get a check–up on…”
I stopped listening.
Footsteps.
The door opening.
Evalina stood in the doorway and I quickly looked back at the screen.

“I’ll call you back,” I said quickly, disconnecting without waiting for her response. I tossed the phone aside and stared at the interrupter.
“Good morning,” she said, eyes locked with ming. I nodded, waiting. “The accountant will be joining for morning tea on the veranda. Won’t you prepare and come?”
She didn’t wait for my answer. She turned and left, leaving the door ajar.
I stared at it for a moment before getting up, bathing, brushing my teeth.
I was heading back into the room to get dressed when I suddenly froze.
Evalina was inside, my cellphone in her hand and I caught the last words she spoke, the sentence driving a deep hole into
my chest.
“We fucked last night. You should stop hoping on him. Cupid is mine.”
She disconnected and tossed the phone onto my bed, staring at me with cold determination.
I slowly approached, picked up the phone, checking who she called.
Snowflakes.
“What did you just do?” I asked, voice calm, deadly calm and she set her jaw, fighting to stay strong beneath the threat in my tone.
“I’m sure your father doesn’t know about this. Make it a mountain out of a molehill, and I’ll tell him you have a girl in your heart,” she threatened, then hurried out, jealousy thick in
every step.
I stood there, eyes fixed on the phone.
Snowflakes had answered and she must have heard Evalina’s words. She must have gone still, shocked. She was likely heartbroken.
I moved to call her back, then paused.
