Both Han Jue and Rong Ye were ready to fight the giant snake beastman to death. Even if they could feel the crushing power of this snake beastman, they would not take the step back. Because they realized that damn stinky snake has the scent of their female.
The ground shook under their power. Just when they were about to leap forward, a cheerful voice suddenly echoed from above.
"Rong Ye! Han Jue! You are here!"
Both of them froze.
Their tails stiffened first, then started wagging uncontrollably. Their sharp eyes instantly softened, glowing with joy. The killing intent vanished in a blink.
They raised their heads, and there, sitting on top of the giant snake’s head, was a soft, round female with bright, shining eyes and a smile that could melt mountains.
"Lan Lan!" Rong Ye gasped, his ears twitching as his whole body trembled with excitement. "Lan Lan is here!"
Su Qinglan waved her hand happily, her eyes curving like crescents when she saw their faces light up. "Rong Ye! Han Jue!" she called out again, her voice full of warmth.
Without thinking twice, she slid down from the top of Xuan Long and landed lightly on the ground. Her steps were quick and light as she rushed to them. Before either of them could react, she was already rubbing Rong Ye’s big fluffy head, fingers buried deep in his soft fur.
She doesn’t want to miss any opportunities to pet these giant fur balls. Her joy almost overflowed when she looked at them in their beast forms. They are just too cute; she could snuggle them all night.
Rong Ye’s eyes curved, looking exactly like a sly fox’s as he hummed in satisfaction, his tail swishing proudly. "Ahh... Lan Lan’s touch feels the best," he murmured, leaning closer.
Su Qinglan chuckled. "You silly thing. I’m so happy you came." She didn’t even notice that her other hand had already reached out to touch the stoic wolf beside him.
Han Jue’s fur was thick and cold to touch but somehow comforting. She rubbed his big head too, completely lost in the moment.
Han Jue stiffened at first, his icy blue eyes locking on her face. But he didn’t push her away. He just stood there quietly, watching her. His eyes were calm on the surface, but there was a storm hidden deep inside.
For the first time, Su Qinglan noticed how deep and cold his eyes were, like a frozen lake that could swallow her whole. She blinked, feeling her heart skip a beat.
Oh no. What am I doing? She thought in panic and quickly pulled her hands away, coughing lightly to hide her embarrassment. "Ah... so, how did you two find me?" she asked, trying to change the topic.
Before either Rong Ye or Han Jue could open their mouths, Stove jumped straight into her arms like a jealous little child. His leaves trembled in anger as he started waving his small vine arms around.
Su Qinglan looked down at him with a helpless smile. "What is it now, Stove?"
"Are you alright?" Han Jue asked quietly, his gaze briefly flicking to the giant snake behind her. His body was still tense, and Su Qinglan could clearly feel the pressure radiating from him. "What happened? How did you end up here, so far from the tribe?"
Su Qinglan blinked. She was about to explain when Han Jue’s eyes darkened even more.
He had already noticed the subtle way the snake was watching him and Rong Ye, his aura thick with possessiveness. Every instinct in Han Jue’s body screamed danger. That snake wasn’t just powerful; he was jealous.
Han Jue’s jaw tightened as he slowly pieced things together. The snake’s gaze never left Su Qinglan. And she was even wearing clothes made from snakeskin, no doubt.
His chest tightened as he remembered what that meant in beastman culture. When a serpent beastman shed his skin and offered it to a female, it was a deep, intimate symbol... a confession of sorts. It meant he wanted to acknowledge her as his chosen female, his mate.
And if the female accepted it...
Han Jue’s heart thudded painfully. Did they already...?
The thought burned his chest like fire.
