Lan Yue walked gracefully beside Lin Muyu, her presence drawing every eye in the clearing.
Since Su Qinglan was still recovering indoors, Lin Muyu had taken it upon herself to be Lan Yue’s guide and protector, helping her socialize with the curious tribe members.
However, "socializing" was a loose term.
Lin Muyu walked with her chin high and a sharp, warning glint in her eyes. Every time a young beastman tried to steer the conversation toward Lan Yue’s mating status or her origins, Lin Muyu would shut them down with a single, icy stare.
"Don’t even think about it, Lu Feng," Lin Muyu snapped at a bold fox youth who had approached with a fresh piece of meat. "She’s here to walk, not to be hounded by a mangy pup like you. Move!"
The beastman scurried away, his tail between his legs. The young males of the village wanted to cry.
First, there was Su Qinglan...who had transformed from a bratty tyrant into a stunning goddess, only to be guarded by a terrifyingly powerful tiger, a fierce wolf, and a deadly snake.
Now, there was Lan Yue, a beauty so soft and ethereal, she instantly became their goddess no. 2.
But guarding her? The village’s other nightmare: Lin Muyu.
The young beastmen huddled in the corner, whispering in resentment. "Why is she like this? She’s a hen mother guarding a golden egg!" one complained.
"It’s not fair," another hissed. "Su Qinglan used to chase us and beat us when we were kids, and we couldn’t hit back because they’re females. She has changed, but Lin Muyu hasn’t changed at all! She still swings her fists at anyone who dares to breathe her way."
This was the tragedy of the Fox Tribe bachelors. Lin Muyu was beautiful, but her temper was a fortress.
Any male who had tried to court her in the past had ended up with a black eye or a bruised ego, which was far more shameful than any physical wound.
To be beaten by a female in front of the entire village was a social death sentence.
They couldn’t approach Su Qinglan unless they wanted to be skinned alive by Han Jue, and they couldn’t approach Lan Yue unless they wanted to be embarrassed by Lin Muyu.
"Are we supposed to die single?" a fox beastman lamented, clutching his chest.
"Look at her guarding that beautiful female like a hawk. Someone should complain to Grandma Lin! Tell her that her daughter is a tyrant who is hoarding all the females!"
"Do you think Lin Muyu likes beautiful females? At first she got Su Qinglan, and now this beautiful female," a lean fox who has barely reached 18 years old said.
Suddenly he was knocked by the older beastman. "What nonsense are you talking about? Why would a female like another female? There is no such thing."
"Hehe...I thought, why would she is still not mated and now she has all beautiful female friends?" The young fox said sheepishly.
Other beastmen ignore this ignorant pup; they are still wondering why he even dares to follow them here to court females. Is he not afraid that he will be beaten up by older males?
"Oh? You’re going to complain about her?"
"Wait! Brother, let us go!" they wailed as Wang Mo suddenly blurred into motion.
He didn’t use his beast form; he didn’t need to. He grabbed two of them by their necks, clashing their heads together with a dull thud, while his foot swept the legs out from under the third.
"We won’t complain! We promise! AHH! My tail!" one screamed as Wang Mo pinned him down.
"Lin Muyu is such a good female! She’s perfect! Let us go; we dare not complain about her!" they sobbed in unison, their bravado completely shattered.
Satisfied, Wang Mo stepped back, dusting off his hands. His dark expression smoothed over into something more composed.
However, as he turned to walk away, his heart skipped a beat.
Standing ten paces away, watching him with an unreadable expression, was Lin Muyu. Lan Yue stood beside her, looking between the two with a small, knowing smile.
Wang Mo froze. His ears twitched, and a rare flush of heat crept up his neck. Did she see me beating them? Does she think I’m a brute?
He opened his mouth to explain, but before he could speak, a muffled, resentful mumble drifted from the pile of groaning beastmen on the ground.
"Hmph... Brother Wang Mo is such a loser," one of the fallen fox males hissed, thinking he was quiet enough.
