Su Qinglan stepped back, her chest heaving.
She watched silently as Han Jue and Hu Yan worked together to wash away the layers of dust and dark blood.
The water in the basin turned deep red almost instantly. Only when the wounds were finally visible and clean did Su Qinglan step forward again.
She placed her palms directly over Shi Fengās heart and closed her eyes.
Suddenly, a blindingly bright green light erupted from her hands. It was so intense that Hu Yan and Han Jue had to shield their eyes.
This wasnāt like her usual gentle healing; this was a level of power they had never seen before. Su Qinglan was pushing her Level 4 Plant Ability to its absolute limit.
Right before their stunned eyes, the big, gaping wounds on Shi Fengās chest and shoulders began to crawl and close.
The torn flesh stitched itself back together like magic. The deep gashes disappeared, leaving behind only faint, pink scars.
Hu Yan and Han Jue were frozen in shock.
They knew their female was special, but to heal a seven-striped beastman from the brink of death in mere minutes was unheard of.
Usually, she would use herbs and take several days to mend such damage.
Su Qinglanās face went pale. Large beads of sweat dripped from her brows, and her breath became ragged. She had used every drop of her plant-type energy to ensure he would survive. As the light finally faded, she swayed a little, her body turning to jelly.
"Lan Lan!" Han Jue caught her before she could hit the floor.
She leaned against him, her eyes fixed on the now-breathing-steadily Shi Feng. "He... he is stable now," she whispered, her voice weak.
"The infection wonāt set in."
Hu Yan looked at the Lion King, who now looked like he was simply sleeping.
Then he looked at Su Qinglan, his eyes full of awe and a new kind of fear. "You used all your strength for him," he murmured.
Su Qinglan didnāt answer. She was too exhausted to speak.
Hu Yan and Han Jue looked at Su Qinglanās tired figure. Her eyelids were drooping, and she was swaying as she tried to fight her sleepiness. Her face was pale from using so much energy, and it made their hearts ache with worry.
Without a word, Hu Yan stepped forward and lifted her in a bridal style. "Letās go sleep," he said firmly, his voice full of care. "You are very tired. You have done enough."
He immediately carried her to the upper floor of their treehouse. He was very protective; there was no way he would allow his female to sleep in the same room or even on the same floor as another man, especially one like the Lion King.
Since they couldnāt take Shi Feng anywhere else without alerting the tribe, the guest had to stay downstairs.
As Hu Yan laid her down on the soft furs, Su Qinglanās hand suddenly shot out. She clutched his arm tightly, her eyes barely open. "Donāt go..." she whispered.
She pulled him toward her and dug her head into his chest. Within seconds, the sound of her steady, deep breathing filled the room. She had fallen into a deep sleep the moment she felt his familiar scent.
Hu Yan let out a long, heavy sigh. He stayed in the bed, wrapping his strong arms around her body to give her warmth.
He gently patted her back as if she were one of the cubs and leaned down to kiss her forehead. "Rest, Lan Lan," he murmured. "Iām right here."
Xiao Er and Xiao San stopped what they were doing and just watched the drama with wide, curious eyes.
Finally, Xiao Yi finished his milk. He let out a tiny burp and, without any warning, threw the empty bottle right at Rong Yeās face. Clunk! It hit Rong Ye right on the forehead.
Xiao Yi didnāt care; he just smacked his lips and turned his head to look at his younger brothersā bottles.
Xiao Yiās eyes narrowed. He looked at Xiao Erās bottle, but it was almost empty. Then, his gaze shifted to Xiao San.
Because Xiao San was a little snake beastman, he couldnāt drink as fast as the tiger cubs. However, he still had a very good appetite, so they always gave him a bottle that was more than half full.
Xiao San was still working on it, his little throat moving slowly as he swallowed.
When Xiao Yiās greedy eyes landed on that half-full bottle, Xiao Sanās entire body stiffened.
He stopped drinking and coiled around the bottle. He looked up at Rong Ye with a pitiful, pleading expression, as if he were saying, "Father Rong Ye, control him! He has bad intentions for my milk!"
Rong Ye rubbed his forehead where the bottle had hit him and let out a short laugh. "Hey, Xiao Yi, donāt be a bully! Thatās your brotherās milk."
But Xiao Yi just let out a small, huffy growl and started crawling toward the little snake.
Xiao San began to hiss softly, backing away toward the corner of the basket. He wasnāt going to give up his milk without a fight, but he was much smaller than the tiger cub.
Rong Ye sighed and reached out to pick up Xiao Yi before he could pounce. "Alright, thatās enough. If youāre still hungry, Iāll go see if Han Jue has any meat scraps. Leave the little snake alone."
Xiao Yi struggled in Rong Yeās grip, still reaching for the bottle, while Xiao San quickly turned his back and started drinking even faster to make sure there was nothing left to steal.
