With a swift, fluid movement, he didn’t give her a chance to change her mind.
Before Su Qinglan even realized what was happening, her feet left the floor.
An Mo scooped her up in a flawless princess carry, turned toward the bed, and immediately laid her down onto the soft blankets.
Su Qinglan’s eyes went completely round as she looked up at him from the bed. "An Mo... what are you doing?" she stammered.
An Mo only smiled, hovering over her like a golden shadow. "The condition of the game is still valid, Lan Lan. It’s valid the entire time," he whispered back.
Su Qinglan shuddered. ’Damn it,’ she thought to herself, ’I’ve really fallen into the clutches of a demon.’
As An Mo looked down at her, his fingers gently tracing her flushed face, Su Qinglan found herself getting completely lost in his gaze again. He leaned down, his lips moving from her cheek to her earlobe, biting it gently.
The small, sharp sensation made her entire body tremble. In her nervousness, her hands flew up and clutched the loose fabric of his golden robe right at his chest.
Deep down, a sudden pang of doubt hit her.
She really wanted to ask him the truth.
Did he truly love her, or was this just for something else? Why would someone like him... someone so powerful, respected, and high above everyone else in the beast world fall for a female like her?
But before she could even open her mouth to voice her doubts, a sudden wave of cool air hit her skin.
An Mo’s hands moved efficiently, neatly unwrapping the thick, warm shawl from around her shoulders.
"Lan Lan, are you not cold? Or is it too hot in here?" An Mo teased softly, his voice full of concern. "Look at your face. It is so red from the heat. You must be suffocating if you keep wearing all of this."
As he spoke, his long, bony fingers lingered on the knots and buttons of her heavy winter coat. He untied them one by one, slowly and deliberately, while looking directly into her eyes.
Su Qinglan was so intensely caught up in his gaze that she couldn’t even move a muscle to stop him. Within moments, the heavy coat was completely slipped off her shoulders, leaving her sitting there in just her long, inner dress.
The sudden chill of the room made her body shiver. Without thinking, she instinctively scooted closer to An Mo’s warm body to seek comfort.
An Mo’s smile grew incredibly graceful at her subconscious reaction. He leaned forward, burying his face into the crook of her neck and her thick hair, deeply inhaling the sweet scent he had spent the last thirty days dreaming about.
Only he knew how agonizing this past month had been.
Only he knew how difficult it was to get through the long days and nights in the upper domain without being able to look at her beautiful, radiant face.
But now, she was right here in his arms, and he wasn’t going to let her escap.
When the cold air hit Su Qinglan’s skin, the slight chill actually cleared her foggy mind a little bit.
She looked up at An Mo, who was staring down at her with a playful expression, the heat in his golden eyes unmistakable. But even with his hands beginning to roam over her dress, that heavy question was still bugging her.
