Meanwhile...
Inside the dimly lit cubs’ room...
Han Jue stood perfectly still at the doorway, a distinctly dark expression clouding his face. His sharp, predatory gaze slowly landed on An Mo, who was already lying back comfortably and settling into the large bed.
Han Jue’s mouth twitched with sheer annoyance. He simply couldn’t believe it.
Hu Yan had actually played such a blatant trick on him! If An Mo was already staying in here to guard the children, then why on earth had Hu Yan explicitly sent him here under the guise of "extra security"?
Wasn’t this deliberately making things difficult for him?
Han Jue snorted inwardly, his fists tightening slightly. He really, truly did not want to look at this man’s face right now.
At the exact same time... An Mo also looked over, his pupils catching the light from fire. The two men’s eyes met for only a single, frosty second.
Then, acting in perfect unison, both of them instantly looked away with expressions full of absolute disgust.
"..."
The atmosphere inside the room became incredibly awkward.
Han Jue glanced at the massive bed again, mapping out the territory. An Mo was selfishly occupying one entire side.
As for the remaining space... it had already been completely taken over by the sleeping cubs. Some were sleeping sideways, sprawled out like little stars. Some had aggressively kicked away their thick blankets. The little fox cub was even lying completely upside down, its fluffy tail draped over another cub’s head. The entire bed looked like a chaotic, post-playtime battlefield.
Han Jue frowned deeply. Where exactly was he supposed to sleep? More importantly... he absolutely, under any circumstances, did not want to sleep beside An Mo.
He was still angry. Very, very angry. This shameless man had deceived their sweet, innocent Lanlan. The more Han Jue thought about it, the angrier he became.
"Hmph."
Without saying a single word to his rival, Han Jue marched over to the corner of the room and picked up a thick hide. Throwing it down onto the floorboards, a sudden blinding flash of white light erupted from his form. His tall, muscular human figure instantly disappeared.
In its place appeared a magnificent, giant snow-white wolf.
The giant wolf quietly curled himself up on the thick hide beside the bed, tucked his nose beneath his massive, fluffy tail, and closed his eyes. He would rather sleep on the hard floor like a common guard dog than sleep anywhere near that deceptive man.
Seeing this dramatic display, An Mo slowly opened one eye from the pillows. The corner of his mouth twitched in utter disbelief.
"Can’t he just squeeze in?" An Mo muttered softly, his smooth voice barely a whisper. "It’s not like I’m trying to bully him."
Then, his gaze drifted toward the closed bedroom door, a sudden realization hitting him.
"If Lanlan walks in and sees this tomorrow morning... she’ll definitely think I’m the one bullying him." He narrowed his eyes at the massive heap of white fur on the floor.
"This wolf really has a stinky, stubborn personality. He’d rather suffer and sleep on the ground just to ruin my perfect image in front of our female."
