The freezing morning air in the courtyard was thick with tension as Rong Ye stood alone in the deep snow, his tall, imposing figure facing a massive group of elders and high-ranking attendants from Fox Beast City.

The visitors looked exhausted, having waited outside since the previous night, but their expressions were filled with desperate determination.

Just a short distance away, hidden completely out of sight behind a thick cluster of snow-covered frozen bushes, Su Qinglan was crouching low.

Rong Ye stood there with his arms crossed, his handsome face fixed into a deeply tragic, sighing expression. He looked at the elders, heavily channelling the script he and Su Qinglan had practised earlier.

"Elders, it is not that I do not want to rule Fox Beast City," Rong Ye said, his voice carrying a fake, heavy sorrow that echoed through the cold courtyard.

"But you must understand... I am simply not powerful enough. After my battle with Rong Yanchen, my core has been unstable. I am too weak to protect such a massive territory. If a stronger enemy comes, I will fail you all."

The elders all stood completely stunned, their mouths falling open in the winter air.

Ciao Ciao nodded his tiny head with fierce determination.

He slipped out of her coat, wiggled through the snowy branches, and suddenly leapt right into the centre of the courtyard, landing elegantly in the snow between Rong Ye and the elders.

Before the elders could even wonder where this tiny ball of fluff had come from, a massive, blinding wave of bright violet energy erupted around the little cub.

Whoosh! His nine fluffy tails flared out grandly into the frozen air, expanding with immense spiritual pressure that actually made the snow swirl violently.

Suddenly, a small crystal appeared on his forehead, glowing with a brilliant, majestic light.

The elders gasped, their eyes nearly popping out of their heads. "The... the ancestral mark?!"

Now, it was time for the absolute peak of the drama.

Rong Ye stepped backwards, putting on a perfectly fake, trembling look of absolute terror. "Oh no! His power... it is too immense! I cannot withstand it!"
