After bowing multiple times and formalizing the treaty, the party of elders finally departed, their hearts full of joy and adoration for their new little genius ruler.
The moment the heavy gates clicked shut and the courtyard fell dead silent, the "unconscious" body in the snow suddenly stirred.
Rong Ye sat up from the frozen ground, shaking the white snow off his long hair. He let out a low chuckle, his dark eyes shining with absolute amusement as he looked at his clever wife.
"Those old fools," Rong Ye muttered, brushing the frost off his shoulders as he stood up.
"They clearly stood no chance against my wife’s sharp tongue. They could never outsmart you, Lanlan."
Su Qinglan stood there, a proud, beautiful smile gracing her lips as she watched him walk over.
In her arms, the little fox cub Ciao Ciao was still wearing the exact same smug, arrogant expression, his nose still pointed toward the sky.
Rong Ye stopped in front of them, narrowing his eyes as he stared at the little cub’s face.
"Look at this brat," Rong Ye said, a mock scowl appearing on his lips. "That proud, smug look on your face isn’t even yours. You learned that completely from your father!"
Before the little cub could even register what was happening, Rong Ye swiftly reached out and scooped the little fox cub right out of Su Qinglan’s arms.
With a swift, playful motion, he tossed the fluffy cub directly into a nearby pile of soft, powdery snow!
"Ah!" Su Qinglan gasped, but before she could complain, Rong Ye’s strong arms immediately encircled her petite waist.
With a deep, joyous laugh, he lifted her completely off her feet, twirling her around in the falling snow. He leaned down and pressed a deep, passionate, and incredibly loving kiss right onto her soft lips.
When he finally pulled back, his handsome face was glowing with absolute pride and adoration.
"Lan Lan, you are truly awesome, my clever female," Rong Ye whispered, his warm breath mingling with the winter air.
"Those strict, stubborn elders are always such a headache, but they were so incredibly foolish today. They fell directly into your trap without even realizing it!"
Su Qinglan bent down and carefully picked up Ciao Ciao into her arms, dusting off the bit of snow that had accumulated on his gorgeous fur during his grand performance.
The little fox cub immediately became comfortable, letting out a soft, pleased purr as he happily curled up against his mother’s warm chest. He buried his small nose into the soft fabric of her winter coat, feeling completely invincible.
Then... he slowly turned his head.
With his body securely anchored in the absolute safety of his mother’s embrace, he looked straight at Rong Ye, who was walking right alongside them.
The little fellow raised one tiny, fluffy paw, extended his claws slightly, and gave his father an extremely dramatic, slow goodbye wave. His little furry face was completely full of pure innocence, as if saying:
"Bye-bye, Father. I’m safe now. You can’t touch me."
Rong Ye’s eyebrow twitched violently. Safe? Very safe?
The tall beastman stopped in his tracks, looking at his son’s deeply provocative little wave. The corner of his mouth slowly lifted into a dangerous, highly amused smile.
"Oh?" Rong Ye purred, his voice dropping an octave as his dark eyes locked onto the smug little creature. "So you think your mother can protect you out here?"
The little cub blinked his large, round eyes. He hugged Su Qinglan’s neck even tighter with his front paws, burying his face deeper. His eyes instantly became watery, shimmering with unshed tears, and he even let out a small, pitiful sniffle.
