Now, carrying the lost cub tightly in his arms, An Mo burst through the outer barriers and landed gracefully in front of the anxious crowd.
Outside the gates, the atmosphere had been thick with suffocating tension.
Su Qinglan stood at the front, her chest heaving, her eyes wild with an edge of absolute madness.
Beside her, Xuan Long, Han Jue, Rong Ye, Shi Feng, and Hu Yan were all standing with dark, terrifying expressions, ready to level the mountain if their son wasn’t found!
The moment An Mo’s figure emerged, Su Qinglan’s eyes instantly locked onto the small, chubby figure resting in his hand.
"Xiao Yi!" Su Qinglan gasped out, her voice filled with pure emotion.
Seeing his mother standing there, Xiao Yi’s big golden eyes flooded with tears in a fraction of a second. Forgotten was all the brave, cheerful front he had put on earlier!
"MOMMY—!" Xiao Yi sobbed out at the top of his lungs.
He wriggled out of An Mo’s arms and launched his chubby little body forward, leaping straight into Su Qinglan’s open arms!
Su Qinglan dropped to her knees on the stone ground, catching the small fluffball and burying her face in his neck.
Xiao Yi wrapped his plump arms around her neck as tightly as he could, bursting into a loud, frantic cry.
Even though he wasn’t hurt anymore, and even though the pretty sister had healed his bloody paws and fed him delicious meat, the sheer terror of that cold, lonely night in the dark mountains came crashing back all at once!
The silence, the dark monsters, and the fear of never seeing his family again overwhelmed his little baby heart. He buried his face in her shoulder, big fat tears soaking through her clothes as he cried his heart out.
Su Qinglan felt an agonizing ache twist deep inside her chest. Her eyes turned red as she held her baby close, her hands trembling as she stroked his head, his back, and his soft ears.
"I’m here, baby... Mommy is right here," Su Qinglan whispered continuously, pressing soft, desperate kisses all over his wet cheeks, forehead, and nose.
"Don’t cry, Xiao Yi... Mommy has got you. You’re safe now."
An Mo watched them silently from the side. He hadn’t even noticed any injuries on the cub because Sheng Rulan had already used her healing skills to completely erase every scratch from his small paws before he woke up.
Seeing the baby crying so pitifully in Su Qinglan’s arms, the last lingering trace of tension on An Mo’s face finally melted away.
Standing just behind Su Qinglan, Hu Yan was completely frozen.
His muscular frame was rigid, and his sharp, fierce tiger eyes were filled with immense sorrow. If anyone looked closely, they would see that his eyes were heavily rimmed with red.
As Xiao Yi’s father beast, no one had suffered more mental torture over the past day than Hu Yan.
