Not only that, but Kate was with her, feigning a helpful, placating attitude. "Mrs. Lowe, I'm sure there's been a misunderstanding! Let's all just talk this out calmly. There's no need for anger!"
Sean's brow furrowed. "Mrs. Lowe, what is the meaning of this sudden visit?"
Mrs. Lowe's gaze was fixed on Charlotte, her expression a cold mask that was a world away from the warm woman of the previous night. "You should be asking your darling daughter that question. Last night, she was with my son, Tobias, and out of nowhere, she smashed his head open! My son is lying in a hospital bed right now! If you don't give me an explanation today, I will raise hell at Rayburn Mansion!"
Sean looked at Charlotte, who stood there silently, her face a placid mask.
"Could there be some mistake?" He couldn't believe his daughter would attack someone without reason.
Mrs. Lowe scoffed. "Mistake or not, is it right for her to bash my son's head in until he's bleeding?"
Sean fell silent.
Kate, standing nearby, offered a placating smile. "Sean, sometimes young people have friction between them. It's understandable. But Lottie did hurt him. Shouldn't she at least apologize to Mrs. Lowe?"
"If my daughter attacked him without provocation, then of course I would have her apologize to the Lowe family."
Mrs. Lowe's face darkened. "What is that supposed to mean, President Rayburn?"
"Mrs. Lowe, since this has happened, we will naturally investigate it thoroughly. But as you said, it seems to be a matter of friction between the two of them. In that case, wouldn't it be better for everyone to calm down and explain the situation clearly so that both sides can get justice?"
Sean's calm, rational words only infuriated Mrs. Lowe further. "It's my son who's injured, not your daughter!"
"And would you have preferred it if my daughter was the one who got hurt?"
"You—!"

Kate and Mrs. Lowe stared, stunned. Mrs. Lowe was the first to react, lunging forward in a fury. "You're lying! You—!"
"Mrs. Lowe, this is my home! Please allow my daughter to finish!" Sean immediately stepped in front of Charlotte.

Charlotte paused, pressing a hand to her forehead as if trying to recall the events. "All I remember is that after I ate something, I suddenly felt dizzy and very unwell."
"Did Tobias do something to you?" Kate pressed, her voice sharp.
The expressions on Sean and Wesley's faces turned grim at once.
