Cold Husband Burning Regret: The Divorce He Couldn't Handle novel Chapter 626

"You're completely insane!" Mr. Rayburn's neck flushed with anger as he glared at her.

"I've been insane for a long time." She took a few steps back, spreading her arms wide. "Ever since Hulda injected me with hormones, ever since I found out the truth about my birth, I was beyond saving! I set up those explosives to take you down with me! I knew you'd come for me, for Wesley's sake!"

Mr. Rayburn's chest heaved. He shut his eyes tightly. "Then you should have invited me over."

"I changed my mind."

Shane walked to the side, seemingly indifferent to everything and everyone. "I figured you're old. You're going to die soon anyway, so why should I bother torturing you? But Wesley is different. He's young, and he's the grandson you value most…"

"Shane." Mr. Rayburn took a deep breath and slowly stood up. The typically decisive man was now at a loss. He fell silent for a few seconds. "What do you want?"

"I want—"

She paused, her eyelashes fluttering. "Never mind. There's nothing I want anymore."

"Shane, I know you're filled with hatred, but you and Wesley were close as children. You shouldn't do this to him." Mr. Rayburn stepped forward, leaning on his cane. "You want my life, don't you? Take it. If it will satisfy your vengeance, I don't care."

She laughed. "Why don't you get on your knees and beg me!"

Mr. Rayburn's face darkened.

For a man of his status, at his age, to kneel before a junior was the ultimate humiliation.

But he hesitated for only a few seconds before his knees slowly began to bend.

The bodyguards saw this and stared in stunned disbelief.

They exchanged glances for a moment, then rushed forward. "Patriarch Rayburn—"

"Stay back," Mr. Rayburn ordered, his back to them.

The men froze in place.

Seeing Mr. Rayburn kneeling before her, Shane's eyes turned crimson, and she let out a mocking laugh. "The great patriarch of the Rayburn family, a selfish and cold-blooded tyrant, is actually kneeling for someone else? You didn't even blink when Kate died. I was starting to think you didn't have a conscience."

Mr. Rayburn remained silent.
