Roman’s hand slid down my spine, cupped my ass, and squeezed hard. Heat exploded through me before I could control it. My free hand flew back, fingers curling around the desk edge just to keep myself upright.
A gasp tore from my throat.
“No, no, that is not right. That cannot be…”
“Oh, it is.” He cut me off, “And it further states I can put you in whatever position I like.”
He let go of my wrist and grabbed my other hip, dragging me flush against him.
“And you,” his hand traveled up my ribs, thumb stroking just beneath my breast through my shirt, “do not get to question me
anymore.”
The truth crashed over me. I had been so panicked and desperate. I had not read it carefully. I had just needed the money to save them.
I shoved him hard. I put all my weight into it until he stumbled back a step.
This has to be a sick joke.”
My voice came out too loud, too frantic. I could hear the hysteria creeping in, but I could not stop it.
“I would never have signed if I…”
“It is too late now, Annabeth.” His voice was too calm, like he was enjoying this. “You should read things more carefully before you sign them.”
Oh God. What did I just sign?
I thought this was only about disciplinary action, about facing consequences for challenging him.
“I do not believe you.” I folded my arms across my chest, trying to look braver than I felt. “I would have seen it if it was there. You are just making things up.”
The amusement drained from his face, replaced by a darker expression.
“I might be capable of many things, Miss Winters,” he said, his voice low and steady, “but deceit is not one of them.”
I lifted my chin, even though every instinct screamed at me to run.
“Then show me.”
Please be lying. Please let this be something he made up. Because if it was real, if I actually signed that, I was screwed. I could not give the money back. Mom and Bianca were counting on me.
“If you make me walk over to my desk to pull that document out he warned, his tone dropping, “rest assured it will come with consequences.”
The icy glint in his eyes told me he was not bluffing.
A chill slid through me. Part of me wanted to back down, to apologize, to pretend I believed him. But I needed to see it for myself.

Chapter 18
“I want to see it,” I demanded,
A slow smile pulled at his mouth, one that made dread wash over me.
He pulled away from me and walked across the office toward his lesk.
Do not look at him. Do not notice how his shoulders move under that suit jacket.

But my eyes followed him anyway, the broad span of his back, the way the fabric stretched over his shoulders with every
step.
Stop it. He just told you he owns you and you are checking him gut?
But I could not stop. Even through the panic twisting in my stomach, my body still reacted to him. A slow shiver ran down my spine.
He opened a drawer and took out the black folder, the same one had signed minutes ago,
He came back, set the folder on the desk, and before I could reach for it, his hands landed firmly on my shoulders, turning me to face the desk.
My breath hitched. His hands were warm through my shirt, strong and unyielding. His chest pressed close behind me, heat radiating from his body.
“Let me help you find it.”
He opened the folder. I watched his perfectly manicured fingers flip through the pages until he reached the final section.
And there it was.
Section 7: Terms of Compliance
In addition to standard disciplinary measures, the Employee agrees to the following terms:
7.1. The Employee’s time belongs to the Employer. All hours. All days.
7.2. The Employee’s body belongs to the Employer. Complete access. No restrictions.
7.3. The Employee’s attention belongs to the Employer.
7.4, The Employee cannot refuse any physical touch from the Employer.
7.5, The Employee will maintain exclusive availability to the Employer.
“Have you seen what you wanted to see?” His voice came from right behind me, low and mocking.
“Is this even legal?” My voice trembled as I tried to make sense of everything.
He leaned over me. The solid weight of his chest pressed against my back, pinning me against the desk.
“It is too late to ask questions,” he murmured, his breath ghosting my ear. “You have already signed the dotted lines.”
Breathe. Just breathe. Think.
“I want out of this.” I forced the words past my lips.
“You are in breach of contract, Miss Winters.” His arm brushed my side as he flipped the folder to another page. “See section nine. Terminate early, and you owe me two million dollars in damages.”

Chapter 18
Two million.
My head swam. I could not even…
…um…do not have two million dollars.”
“I know.” His finger traced the paragraph. “Which means you are stuck doing my bidding.”
I stared at the words. At my signature. Today’s date.

It was all here. He had buried it at the end, knowing I would skin. And now that I had seen it, the truth slammed into me.
How could I have been so silly? I should have listened to that small voice inside me. I should have read it carefully. Now there was no going back.
Section 9: Breach and Penalties
Breach of contract results in immediate payment of $2,000,000, plus return of all advance payments within 48 hours.
“How could I have been so stupid?” I whispered, disbelief and fear burning through me.
I turned my head, trying to look at him over my shoulder. His face was inches away, close enough to see the traces of darker blue in his eyes, close enough to notice the trimmed stubble along his jaw.
I tried to meet his gaze, searching for any hint of mercy, any softness, but all I saw was a ruthlessness that told me he meant every word.
I hate him. I hate what he is doing. But my body does not care.
“You have two options.” He pulled back just enough to let me breathe. “Honor the contract you signed. Or breach it and pay the consequences.”
He let it sink in, letting me process the full implications of his words.
“The choice is yours.”
If I breached the contract. I would owe money I could never repay. But if I stayed, my family would live.
