Craving My Ruthless Ceo novel Chapter 35

Chapter 35: He Said He Would Find Me

Anna’s POV

I was on the bed.

The room was dark, and for a moment I did not understand where I was or how I got there. My back pressed into the mattress as I slowly moved away, inch by inch, dragging the sheet with me as if it could protect me.

Then a voice cut through the darkness.

“You thought you could escape me.”

My body locked up.

I lifted my head, my eyes straining to see, and he stepped closer. Drago. His face was bruised and bloody from Roman’s fists. One eye was swollen shut.

He was smiling.

That smile made my skin crawl.

I backed away again, my fingers twisting into the sheets as I dragged myself farther up the bed. My heart hammered painfully in my chest. I glanced around, searching for something, anything, but the room felt like it was shrinking. The walls seemed closer. The windows felt gone. There was no way out.

“You think you can run from me?”

The words came calm, almost amused, his good eye fixed on me as he moved closer, unhurried.

“How did you get in here?” I asked, my hand lifting on instinct, shaking as I tried to keep space between us. Stay away from me.”

He tilted his head slightly, studying me. Then he reached up and shrugged out of his jacket, letting it drop to the floor like time meant nothing to him.

“Oh, sweetheart,” his mouth curved into a cruel smile, “it’s too late for that. That debt never disappeared. And now you made it personal.”

I tried to scramble off the bed.

His hand shot out and grabbed my leg.

I screamed as he yanked me back. The mattress dipped under his weight as he climbed onto the bed. I kicked and thrashed, fighting him with everything I had, pushing myself farther back until my head hit the headboard.

There was nowhere left to go.

“No!” My voice cracked. “Get away from me!”

His body pressed down, heavy, trapping me against the mattress. His face hovered too close.

“All alone,” his breath brushed my skin. “Your shining knight isn’t here this time.”

My arms burned as I shoved against his chest. My legs shook violently as I tried to force him off. Air barely reached my lungs. Disgust crawled through me as panic flooded every part of my body.

“When you’re walking home,” his fingers caught a loose strand of my hair, winding it slowly, “when you’re sleeping in your little flat, I’ll be there. Watching.”

I shook my head, tears spilling despite me fighting them. “No. Please.”

His thumb dragged across my cheek, wiping away tears in a way that made my skin crawl.

“There’s nowhere you can go that I won’t track you down. You could run to the other side of the world, and I’d still find you.”

I screamed again, high and broken, fighting harder, my whole body trembling beneath him.

“You belong to me now, Anna.”

I screamed and jolted awake.

Chapter 35: He Said He Would Find Me

My body shot upright, breath tearing out of me. My eyes moved fast, sweeping the dark room. The bed. The walls. The door.

I was alone.

Drago wasn’t there.

My chest rose and fell as memories from the night before rushed back. This wasn’t my room. I was in Roman’ s house, his guest room.

I lay back for a moment, staring at the ceiling, trying to slow my breathing. It didn’t help. Each time I closed my eyes, I saw him again. Felt him again.

I couldn’t stay in that bed.

I pushed the covers off and stood. The floor was cool beneath my feet. I was still shaking. I wrapped my arms around myself and stood there for a second, listening.

Roman had mentioned earlier that his room was next door. I didn’t know if going to him was a mistake. I only knew I was too afraid to be alone.

I reached for the door.

The hallway was dim and quiet. His door was only a few steps away. I crossed the short distance and touched the handle.

I didn’t knock.

The door opened, and light spilled into the hall.

Roman sat at his desk, his laptop open in front of him. Papers were spread nearby. He was dressed in a black sweatshirt, his attention fixed on the screen.

His head lifted the moment he saw me.

Shock crossed his face as he pushed his chair back and stood, moving toward me at once.

“Anna.”

I stood there shaking, my breathing uneven, caught between the dream and the room.

“What’s wrong?” He stopped in front of me, close enough that I could see the concern in his eyes. His hands lifted and settled against my face. “Anna, look at me.”

I pulled away and stepped back. My chest tightened, the room tilting slightly.

“I… I’m sorry,” the words came out fast. “I didn’t mean to. I’ll just….”

I turned to leave.

His hand closed around my arm, stopping me.

“No.” His voice was firm, worried. “You’re not going anywhere.”

He moved in front of me, blocking the door. His hands lifted my face, making me look at him. His eyes searched mine.

“What happened?”

My throat tightened. The words tangled together.

Everything about him shifted.

He pulled me toward him without hesitation, his arms wrapping around me. One hand came up to the back of my head, pressing me against his chest.

“You’re safe,” he said quietly, close to my ear. “You’re here with me.”

I shook my head, my breathing uneven. My fingers tightened in his shirt as I leaned closer, taking in his clean,

musky scent. It calmed me. His arms around me felt tender, protective. I needed him closer.

After a moment, he eased back just enough to look at me. His hand slid down and laced with mine.

Chapter 35 He Said He Would Find Me

“Come with me.”

He guided me across the room to the large bed at the center. He helped me sit, his touch gentle, like he was afraid I might break.

“Sit.”

I did.

He crouched in front of me, close enough that our knees almost touched. His gaze stayed on my face, waiting.

“Tell me.”

I closed my eyes.

For a moment, I wasn’t there anymore. The darkness came rushing back. My chest tightened. Fear gripped me before I could stop it.

The words came out broken.

“It was dark. I was asleep. I was in my bed.”

My throat tightened.

“And then he was there. Drago.”

His hand closed around mine. He felt how badly I was shaking, and his thumb began to move slowly over my skin until I stopped trembling.

“He grabbed me. He climbed on top of me.” My voice shook. “I fought him. I tried to get away. I swear I did.”

My body went rigid.

“I couldn’t move. I was trapped.” My chest burned. “He told me he would find me. Anywhere. No matter where I ran.”

My eyes opened, panic spilling over.

“He said I belong to him.”

My grip tightened on his hand.

“And now I’m scared,” the words rushed out. “I’m scared he really will find me.”
